Description
Tatara Phoron is a Dantist working for the Tsuge Divine Music Player Office on a continent where humans and spirits coexist. He uses specialized instruments called One-Man Orchestras to perform Divine Songs, allowing spiritual partners to manifest their powers. His primary contract spirit is Corticarte Apa Lagranges, an elder spirit known as "Red Elder Spirit," "Crimson Annihilator," and "Bloody Duchess." Their bond formed in Phoron's childhood when his singing voice captivated her, leading to a pact. Phoron initially mistook this encounter for a dream, only rediscovering their connection later.
Phoron trained at the Torvas Divine Song Players Academy, aspiring to become a full Dantist. During his studies, he unintentionally performed a Divine Song that freed Corticarte from imprisonment in the academy's basement, remaining unaware he was her contracted master until those academy years. After graduation, he joined Office Tsuge professionally. Kind and calm by nature, Phoron displays naivety and occasional denseness in interpersonal matters. He is deeply dedicated to his music, stating his motivation for performing Commandia stems from love for his spirit partner.
For fieldwork, Phoron utilizes a transformable instrument integrated into his motorbike, partially converting into a portable organ-like One-Man Orchestra. He also carries a backpack-style version when the motorbike is impractical. His relationship with Corticarte is complex; she is fiercely possessive and moody around him, especially if other girls show interest, yet Phoron remains patiently devoted. This dynamic sometimes sparks quarrels, notably with Perselte Yugiri, who competes for his attention.
Beyond Corticarte, Phoron interacts closely with colleagues at Office Tsuge. Eufinley Tsuge, his strict supervisor, oversees operations while maintaining contracts with multiple spirits. Rembart Psyche, Phoron's friend and coworker, collaborates on assignments despite lacking a contracted spirit. The Yugiri twins, Perserte and Prinesica, work part-time; Prinesica possesses a unique half-human, half-spirit nature resulting from a childhood fusion with her father's spirit to survive a near-fatal accident.
Phoron's abilities focus on musical prowess, not combat. When he performs Divine Songs, Corticarte transforms into an adult form with heightened power, serving as the primary force during conflicts. His journey shows progression from academy student to reliable Dantist handling diverse assignments, while his core traits of kindness and occasional obliviousness persist.
