OVA
Description
Yumemi Hidaka first perceived floating sky islands around age five. Sharing this with peers resulted in accusations of lying, causing deep distress and establishing lasting insecurity about her unique sight. Childhood friends Ichiko Ono and Suzume Imamura witnessed this and reacted with fascination. Their joint attempt to see the islands by scaling a water tower failed, triggering Ichiko's emotional outburst. Yumemi interpreted this failure as her fault, adopting a pink umbrella to block her skyward view and favoring rainy days when obscured skies aligned her vision with others. This habit symbolized her craving for normalcy and conviction that her ability marked her as abnormal.

Roughly eighteen months before the second OVA’s events, her path crossed Munto, ruler of the Heavenly realm's Magical Kingdom. He appeared before her, declaring her essential to saving his world from collapse due to vanishing Akuto energy. Initially overwhelmed, she dismissed these encounters as dreams but gradually accepted Munto and the islands as real. This culminated in her piercing a dimensional barrier to physically grasp Munto’s hand, overcoming doubt and fear. The act restored Akuto flow to the Heavens and briefly revealed the islands to all on Earth, bolstering her self-confidence and willingness to trust her instincts.

Post-event, Earth endured escalating natural chaos: earthquakes and severe weather. Yumemi observed massive Heavenly rock pillars falling and disintegrating like snow—recognized as crumbling Akuto. Simultaneously, intrusive flashes of Munto’s memories haunted her, depicting his burdensome royal duties, ostracization by his kingdom’s Elders, and the energy crisis. These visions caused confusion and distress; she sensed Munto’s peril but lacked means to intervene. Concern for his safety consumed her.

While working part-time at a shrine with Ichiko and Suzume, Yumemi noticed a mysteriously glowing sacred rock. Touching it delivered a potent vision of Munto injured and unconscious. Driven to help, she energetically reached out but was repelled, prompting a return to the bridge of their initial connection. She redirected her focus toward deciphering Munto’s memories and finding aid methods.

Her intensified fixation on Munto and the Heavens strained her friendships. Ichiko, once a key support, grew fiercely protective, fearing Yumemi would be lured into danger. She resisted Yumemi’s preoccupation, discouraging engagement with the visions or Munto’s plight. Despite friction, Yumemi persisted in understanding the connection and assisting Munto. Her resolve hardened into proactive determination, leading her to directly offer Munto help during the second OVA. Her feelings for him evolved beyond concern into affection, marked by blushing in his presence.

Yumemi embodies a dreamy, gentle, and compassionate nature, especially toward friends and family. Her early conflict—rooted in her unique ability—forged profound insecurity and a yearning for ordinariness. Munto’s influence catalyzed personal growth, steadily replacing insecurity with self-belief and trust in her perceptions. This transformation involved embracing her distinct role as a bridge between worlds.
