Description
Yumemi Hidaka anchors the Munto franchise, starting as a Japanese middle school student. Since around age five, she uniquely saw floating islands in the sky invisible to everyone else. Accusations of lying from peers when she described these visions cultivated deep insecurity about her abilities. This led her to habitually carry a pink umbrella to block her view of the sky and prefer rainy days when the islands were hidden. Though childhood friends Ichiko Ono and Suzume Imamura believed her descriptions without seeing the islands themselves, she internalized the feeling of being abnormal.
Her life changed when Munto, ruler of the Heavenly Magical Kingdom, repeatedly manifested before her. She initially dismissed these encounters as hallucinations but gradually accepted their reality as he pleaded for her help saving his realm from collapse due to depleting Akuto energy. This energy, drawn from human emotions and dreams, linked both worlds, and Yumemi unknowingly held the key to restoring its flow. During early encounters, Munto's appearances caused spatial disturbances Yumemi perceived as explosions, and he struggled against a dimensional barrier that physically harmed him when he tried approaching her.
