TV-Series
Description
Fatina is a sixteen-year-old magician and the sole female member of Neeba's original climbing party in the first season of the anime. Her initial motivation for ascending the Tower of Druaga is rooted in a desire for personal wealth and profit. She intends to obtain the power of the Blue Crystal Rod to become rich, and she carries a strap made of expensive leather as a token of this ambition, as she had wanted a belt of the same material but could not afford it.
In terms of personality, Fatina is introduced as a proud, sometimes selfish, and outspoken individual. However, beneath this surface lies a supportive and caring nature, and she often shows concern for her fellow climbers, particularly Jil. Her combat specialization is fire magic, which she channels through a unique, cannon-like staff. Her abilities include rapid-fire spells and the creation of defensive fire shields, though her protective magic is less potent than that of characters like Kaaya. Despite her youth, Fatina possesses considerable combat strength, being capable of defeating one of the four powerful knights, although such feats leave her exhausted.
Fatina's role in the story is significantly shaped by her relationships. At the outset, she harbors a strong romantic admiration for her party leader, Neeba, and expresses a desire to become his girlfriend. This dynamic is shattered when Neeba betrays the group during a whirlpool incident, an event from which only Fatina and Jil survive, with Jil having saved her. This betrayal becomes a pivotal turning point, transforming her primary goal from the acquisition of wealth to a quest for vengeance against Neeba and his companion, Kaaya.
In the second season, set six months after the betrayal, Fatina is living with Jil and the character Kelb. To make a living, she works as a tour guide and souvenir seller at the Tower of Gilgamesh. During this time, she is deeply concerned about Jil's reclusive behavior and his inability to move past the emotional scars left by Neeba and Kaaya. Her own feelings begin to shift as she gradually overcomes her attachment to Neeba. She eventually confesses her romantic feelings to Jil, demonstrating significant personal growth by accepting his honest rejection when he admits his love for Kaaya remains.
Throughout the series, Fatina undergoes a notable development from a relatively self-centered climber into a more thoughtful and reliable ally. She sets aside her materialistic ambitions to support Jil in a new ascent of the Tower, driven by the revelation that Kaaya faces a terrible fate. Her character arc is complete in the epilogue, where she is seen adventuring with Utu, having moved beyond her past vendettas and romantic disappointments to forge her own path as a capable and active climber.
