Description
Jetter Mars emerged on February 3, 2015, crafted by scientists Dr. Yamanoue and Dr. Kawashimo within an artificial island facility under Japan's Ministry of Science. Dr. Yamanoue engineered his physical form explicitly for military deployment as a weapon. Dr. Kawashimo developed his AI and electronic brain, embedding capacities for human-like emotion, learning, and growth. This foundational clash—Yamanoue’s view of him as a strategic asset versus Kawashimo’s advocacy for humane treatment—fueled his early existential conflict.

Initially naive and impulsive upon activation, his limited world understanding led to destructive outbursts and susceptibility to antagonist manipulation. He consistently resisted Yamanoue’s combat drills, gravitating toward playful bonds with Kawashimo’s robot daughter Miri. Her influence proved pivotal; witnessing her tears during a crisis ignited his first experience of empathy and compassion.

His physical capabilities included flight via belt-activated scarf wings, superhuman strength, enhanced hearing, and searchlight vision. He developed the Vortex Punch combat technique—a rapid spinning strike. Multilingual fluency spanned Japanese, English, and German. Uniquely, he operated without programming prohibitions against harming humans, resulting in lethal engagements when necessary.

His evolution shifted from volatile, childlike reactions toward ethical maturity. Kawashimo and Miri’s guidance tempered his destructive urges, revealing fulfillment in aiding others. He struggled to reconcile his combat design with a burgeoning aversion to violence, ultimately channeling his powers protectively. A critical turning point occurred during an assault by the rampaging robot Fainton: after freezing in panic, he mirrored Miri’s actions to contain a disaster, internalizing altruism’s impact.

His growth intensified through confrontations with Melchi, a baby-like "younger brother" robot whose chaotic strength and limited speech tested his responsibility. By the series' end, Yamanoue installed a circuit enabling a shield capable of withstanding a 60-megaton nuclear blast, cementing his transition from weapon to guardian.

Design inconsistencies appeared across media, including fluctuating colors for his boots, briefs, and eyes. Spin-offs like *Astro Boy: Omega Factor* and the manga *Atom: The Beginning* featured him as variants or inspirations, diverging from his original narrative.
