Hyouka Kazakiri embodies the conscious manifestation of Academy City's aggregated AIM Diffusion Fields, collectively termed the Imaginary Number District, classifying her as an artificial entity. Her physical form solidified approximately ten years before the main events, coinciding with Kamijou Touma's arrival. Academy City's chairman, Aleister Crowley, deliberately imposed consciousness upon this phenomenon to facilitate control and integration into his plans. Prior to stabilization, she existed primarily within a parallel dimension she called the "City of Shimmers," a distorted reflection of Academy City where her perceptions could unintentionally reshape surroundings. This led her to limit physical-world interactions to avoid harming inhabitants. Despite her elusive nature, observational systems at Kirigaoka Girls' Academy detected intermittent presences, resulting in her formal enrollment.
