Satomi Hakase, also known by the nickname "Professor," is a student in Class 3-A at Mahora Academy with the student number 24. She stands 145 centimeters tall and weighs 68 kilograms, with body measurements of 74-54-76 centimeters. She has black hair, green eyes, and blood type B. Her birthday is July 14, 1988. A member of the Robot Construction Research Society and the Advance Jet Research Society at Mahora University, she dedicates significant time to advanced research. Her genius-level intellect and intense focus on work often result in a lack of common sense, earning her the reputation of a mad scientist—a trait she shares with her best friend, Chao Lingshen. Though generally quiet and courteous, she displays a slight arrogance when discussing her inventions. Despite her stated aversion to phenomena that cannot be scientifically explained, she extensively incorporates magic into her research. She was aware of magic even before Negi Springfield’s arrival at Mahora Academy, as shown through her interactions with Evangeline A.K. McDowell and her integration of magical principles into technology. Her most notable achievement is the creation of the android Chachamaru Karakuri, developed with Chao Lingshen’s assistance. Chachamaru regards Satomi as a mother figure. During the Mahora Festival, Satomi assisted Chao Lingshen in a plan to expose magic to the world. She designed and oversaw the production of a robotic force powered by the World Tree’s magical energy and developed counter-wizard tactics to neutralize the magical abilities of Mahora’s residents. Although she hesitated near the plan’s conclusion, she completed the incantation for Forced Recognition Magic. After Chao’s defeat, the spell was altered to remove hatred from the world for one day. Following Chao’s departure, Satomi assumed full responsibility for Chachamaru’s maintenance and upgrades. Noting Chachamaru’s emerging human emotions—particularly romantic feelings for Negi Springfield—she engineered a more realistic synthetic dermis to give the android a softer, more human-like appearance. She later joined classmates in supporting Negi Springfield’s mission to save his father, Nagi Springfield, and defeat the Mage of the Beginning. Her theory of science-magic integration proved essential for large-scale projects such as terraforming and the construction of an orbital elevator, endeavors that would have been difficult with science alone. In the story’s epilogue, she marries a governor identified in other sources as Kurt Godel. Her abilities include a genius-level intellect in robotics and technology, making her one of the smartest in her class. She is a prominent member of the school’s Robotics and Jet Propulsion Society, a keen observer, and a logical thinker who seamlessly blends magic with science. Her work implies a practical knowledge of magic itself. In the first anime adaptation, she plays a larger role in the final episodes, using her knowledge of magic and science to help Negi Springfield operate a time machine and save Asuna Kagurazaka. Her Pactio artifact is a magic backpack that enables a "Plasma Punch" attack. In the alternate retelling *Negima!?*, she is transformed into an axolotl during the "Suka incident" and retains her mad scientist persona in omake segments, assisting Chao with inventions and upgrading the Baka Rangers into animal-like cyborgs.
