Description
Kaede Nagase is a student in Class 3-A of Mahora Girls' Junior High School, born into the Koga ninja clan a generation too late. With her parents having abandoned the family's ninja traditions, she forged her own path through relentless self-training, a discipline she prioritizes over academic studies. Her low test scores landed her in the "Baka Rangers" study group as "Baka Blue," though this stems not from a lack of intellect but from her singular dedication to physical conditioning. She holds the rank of chūnin within her clan.

Tall and statuesque at 181 cm, Kaede possesses light brown hair often secured in a low ponytail and matching light brown eyes that remain nearly closed except in moments of intensity. Her figure, measuring B89-W69-H86, makes her the second tallest girl in her class with the second largest bust. She is seldom seen out of her Mahora Academy uniform.

Gentle, calm, and easy-going by nature, Kaede speaks in an archaic manner, ending sentences with "de gozaru" and using the honorific "-dono," traits more befitting a samurai than a ninja. She serves as a wise mentor and protective figure within her group, often acting as a surrogate mother to Negi Springfield. As a member of the school's Strolling Club, she mentors Fuka and Fumika. She enjoys pudding and relaxing but holds a dislike for frogs.

She became the second student to uncover Negi Springfield's magical abilities, discovering him during a woodland training session. Sworn to secrecy, she later aided him in rescuing Konoka in Kyoto, where she fought and defeated Kotarou. A dependable combatant, she participated in events like the Mahora Fighting Tournament, compelling Colonel Sanders to deploy his artifact against her. She later proposed training alongside Kotarou for mutual improvement.

Kaede joined Ala Alba, a club dedicated to assisting Negi on his journeys to Wales and the Magical World in search of his father. Confronting adversaries such as Fate Averruncus and his minions, she was separated from the group in the Magical World and fought her way through the land by slaying dragons before reuniting with her companions. She formed a pactio with Negi as his ninth contract partner. Her artifact, Tengu no Kakuremino, is a cloak that grants camouflage and invisibility and contains an extradimensional space resembling a traditional Japanese home with a garden. It serves multiple purposes: stealth, transport, absorbing enemy attacks, and catching falling allies.

Her extensive abilities center on ninjutsu, which she calls Kaede ninpou. An expert in hand-to-hand combat and weapon mastery, she wields kunai and giant shuriken with proficiency. Her techniques include Shukuchi for instant movement, Shukuchi Mukyou for extreme long-range travel, Kage Bunshin for creating shadow clones, Bakusa Bakuenjin to ensnare enemies with a chained shuriken before detonating it, Kage Nui, and Tenma Fukumetsu Bakusa Chimoujin. She sometimes trains blindfolded and has instructed Kotarou and the Narutaki twins.

In the epilogue, she helps save Nagi Springfield and defeat the Mage of the Beginning. A lifetime of training culminates in the ability to traverse space in flesh and blood, solidifying her role as a ninja who can appear whenever a classmate is in danger.
