Description
Emma Verde is a third-year student at Nijigasaki High School and a member of the school idol unit QU4RTZ. Originally from Switzerland, she comes from a large family with eight younger siblings. Her family name, Verde, means "green" in Italian, and she often uses the Italian word "Buono" when introducing herself, reflecting her roots in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland.
She moved from Switzerland to Japan to pursue her dream of becoming a school idol, eventually enrolling at Nijigasaki High School. She shares a dormitory with Karin Asaka, and the two develop a close friendship. Prior to Nijigasaki, she attended Y.G. International Academy and was introduced as an N-rarity character in the Love Live! School Idol Festival mobile game alongside Shizuku Osaka and Kanata Konoe.
Emma possesses a kind, easygoing, and cheerful personality with a calming presence, aiming to encourage others and bring smiles to people's faces. She tends to internalize her worries to avoid burdening others and is prone to nervousness. Having many younger siblings, she relates closely to Kanata Konoe regarding the joys and responsibilities of being an older sister. To stay connected with her family in Switzerland, she regularly receives video letters and spends about an hour each weekend video chatting with them.
Her dream of becoming a school idol began after watching a television show about school idols during a snowstorm in Switzerland, which inspired her to study Japanese and move to Japan. This pursuit also helped her combat feelings of homesickness. In a bond episode from Love Live! School Idol Festival All Stars, she meets Mai Natsukawa, the idol who performed the song "Aion no Uta," which originally inspired Emma's journey. The song was passed down from Mai's senior to Mai and then to Emma.
Emma enjoys outdoor activities such as woodland walks, playing in rivers, and spending up to seven hours surrounded by nature, often packing a lunch for these excursions. She also has a hobby of quilting and has a pet goat named Neve, which means "snow" in Italian. She has a particular fondness for food, especially bread crusts, and enjoys visiting various bakeries. She is part of the International Program at Nijigasaki High School alongside Shizuku.
In terms of appearance, Emma is tall with a slim figure, standing at 166 cm. She has semi-long auburn hair tied into two short low braids that curl upwards, light blue eyes, and freckles across her nose and cheeks. Her image color is light green.
Within the Nijiyon Animation spin-off, Emma appears in episodes focusing on her interactions with other characters. In one episode, she is heard singing alone in the courtyard by Mia Taylor, who encourages her to consider becoming a professional singer. In another episode, she participates in a segment with Rina Tennnouji and Hanpen, where they explore various methods of communication.
Emma also participates in the events of the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club movie trilogy, specifically in Chapter 1, where she travels to Okinawa with other club members to participate in the Idol GPX.
