Description
Yukiko Hime is the snow woman princess of the snow kingdom and a member of the Yuki-Onna Clan. She operates as a key member of the Yokai Patrol, hunting yokai escaped from Hell into the human world. Her team includes Enma (the demon prince and her primary love interest), Kapaeru (a kappa-water sprite hybrid), and Chapeauji (a sentient hat). Yukiko combats rogue yokai, though her duties often incorporate comedic and ecchi elements due to Enma's persistent perverted behavior.

She wields extensive ice-based powers: emitting freezing lasers from her finger, creating ice skates for mobility, generating ice blades for combat, and using a flute to nullify hypnosis. Additional capabilities encompass teleportation, wall-walking, transmogrifying objects via her breath, and resisting extreme cold. Despite her combat prowess, Yukiko frequently faces damsel-in-distress scenarios, including capture or becoming a target for tentacle-based assaults. She demonstrates significant resilience and power when genuinely threatened, showcasing her full capabilities in critical battles. Her personality balances acting as the "straight man" to Enma's antics with moments of fiery temper when provoked.

Yukiko's character design evolves across adaptations. The original 1973 manga and anime features her in a short kimono facilitating fanservice scenes. The 2011 series modernizes her appearance while retaining core elements like her expressive skull-shaped hairpin. Concept art for "Dororon Enma-kun: Luna" (2022) indicates further visual development. A recurring trait is her habit of going commando, explicitly confirmed in multiple media.

Her relationship with Enma features belligerent sexual tension, marked by frequent squabbles and her punishing his transgressions with freezing techniques. Mutual affection is evident, culminating in pivotal moments like her permitting him to use the familiar nickname "Yuki-chan" during a near-death scenario. She interacts with human allies like Tsutomu and Harumi, the latter gaining prominence in later adaptations. In the spin-off "Dororon Enpi-chan," Yukiko is replaced by Yukihige as Enma's romantic interest.

Significant story arcs include her capture and forced marriage to the Kamaitachi Triplets, requiring rescue by the Yokai Patrol. In another incident (Episode 6 of the 2011 series), she is transformed into an inflatable balloon during battle, exposing her midriff and lower garments. The series finale involves her witnessing Enma's sacrifice to save her from Yokai Daikinkai, solidifying their emotional bond. Her background as princess and heir to the Yuki-onna lineage informs her dignified demeanor, though she occasionally subverts expectations through impulsive actions or vulnerability.
