Description
Akutsu Futoshi began as a member of Suzuran High’s Bandou Faction, where his relentless bullying of Yasuo Yasuda sparked a clash with Bouya Harumichi. After suffering decisive defeats by Bouya—first on a train, then in a school bathroom—he became an early admirer of Bouya’s strength, cemented after witnessing his fight against Makoto Sugihara. This recognition drove Akutsu to abandon the Bandou Faction following Hideto Bandou’s downfall, aligning himself with the Harumichi Family. Peers dismissed his shift as cowardly self-preservation, tarnishing his reputation alongside his subordinate Susumu Sagawa.

In middle school, Akutsu boasted of rivaling legends like Bulldog, Maruken, Kakuken, and Hiromi Kirishima, though these claims remained unverified. He humorously dubbed himself “The Tiger of The Eastern District” and later attempted to declare dominance at Suzuran’s freshman orientation, only to be swiftly subdued by Hiromi.

Despite his opportunistic streak, Akutsu displayed flashes of loyalty and grit. He repelled Housen Academy invaders during clashes, earning grudging acknowledgment from Hiromi and Yasuo. Though often lingering at the edges of conflict and slow to act, he bolstered the Harumichi Family with vocal support from the sidelines. His younger brother, Akutsu Kinji, enrolled at Suzuran after his graduation.

Akutsu’s combat record included losses to Bouya, Anzai Mitsuhiko, Kunimoto Tadashi, and Hiromi. His name derived from kanji signifying “Africa/flatter,” “long time,” and “harbor,” with “Futoshi” meaning “thick” or “great.” Across adaptations, he walked a tightrope between cowardice and tenacity, navigating Suzuran’s volatile power struggles while maintaining a peripheral yet enduring presence in its conflicts.
