As a child, he witnessed a severed head floating down a river, a traumatic event that nearly drowned him and briefly transported him to the Other World. This incident permanently altered his perception of reality and the supernatural. Confident and self-assured beyond his years, he frequents brothels despite his youth, claiming these visits serve as observational art practice. His interest also stems from a growing fascination with Atl, an Aztec girl working in a Japanese circus. Kyosai exhibits protective instincts towards Atl, shielding her from danger when other Ayashi members are absent.

Within the Bansha Aratamesho, a group dedicated to combating supernatural entities called Youi, Kyosai provides reliable intelligence. His artistic abilities extend beyond observation, proving crucial to the Ayashi's missions. He maintains professional connections with members such as Genbatsu Edo and Abi, though his primary value lies in gathering information and analyzing situations rather than direct combat. Six months after the main series events, during the OVA *Ayashi Divine Comedy*, Kyosai reunites with the Ayashi to face new threats and conspiracies. His involvement helps resolve conflicts determining the fate of Ryūdō Yukiatsu and the entire group, showcasing his ongoing role within their operations.
