Description
Fujiwara no Takamichi is a nobleman serving as Vice Minister of Civil Affairs in the government of Kyou, a world reminiscent of the Heian period. He is hardworking, studious, and chivalrous, especially toward women. As one of the Eight Guardians, he holds the title of Byakko of Heaven, with his dragon jewel positioned on the right side of his neck and an elemental attribute of Heaven.

His principal duty is to protect the Priestess of the Dragon God, Akane Motomiya, whom he considers deeply precious. He remains constantly attentive to her welfare and develops romantic feelings for her, though he initially resists acknowledging them due to his strong sense of duty. This inner conflict sometimes causes friction with others, such as Tachibana no Tomomasa, who confronts him about his true emotions. Eventually, he confesses his love to Akane and decides to remain by her side.

Takamichi works in the palace archives and carries himself with a serious, calm demeanor and a firm commitment to justice. He maintains professional and cooperative ties with fellow Eight Guardians, including Minamoto no Yorihisa, Abe no Yasuaki, and Eisen, as well as with Akane's modern-world companions, Tenma Morimura and Shimon Nagareyama. His adversaries include Akuram, leader of the Oni Clan, and the oni shirabyōshi Shirin. In one encounter, Shirin attempted to seduce him, but he rejected her due to distrust. He later injured her in combat yet demonstrated compassion by bandaging her wound.

The narrative unfolds in a world paralleling the Heian period, likely during the latter half of the 10th century, inferred from the influence of noble houses such as the Fujiwara-ke. Takamichi’s responsibilities and actions are central to defending Kyou against the encroaching Oni Clan and ensuring the safety of the Dragon Priestess.
