Description
Kakushi Gotō is a single father and professional manga artist specializing in explicit humor. Driven by an intense fear that his daughter Hime would be ashamed or traumatized upon discovering his career, he maintains a strict separation between his professional and family life, adopting extreme measures to conceal his true occupation.

He appears as a young, slim adult with short black hair often covering his left eye, grey eyes, and a short goatee. He typically wears glasses and casual clothing while working. When leaving home, he adopts a disguise of a black suit, tie, and briefcase to present himself as a conventional office worker, reinforcing the deception for Hime.

His daily existence revolves around elaborate deceptions. He stores manuscripts in a remote warehouse and operates from an office building redesigned to appear ordinary. He coordinates with his studio assistants—Aogu Shiji, Ami Kakei, Kakeru Keshi, and Rasuna Sumita—to maintain the facade; they actively uphold the pretense he is an office worker whenever Hime is present or might encounter them. He also enlists clothing store owner Mario to store his "work" clothes and support the ruse.

Relationships define significant aspects of his character. He is deeply devoted to his daughter Hime, whose innocent perception motivates his ongoing secrecy. He exhibits profound, unwavering loyalty to Hime's mother, his wife who disappeared in an accident off the Japanese coast. Years later, he continues searching for her and rejects romantic attachments to others, including Hime's teacher Ichiko Rokujo, who harbors feelings for him, or aspiring idol Naru Senda, who develops a crush after he takes her aspirations seriously. His interactions with his wealthy father-in-law, Kairi Imashigata, are strained due to lingering tensions following his wife's disappearance, though they share concern for Hime.

His name carries multiple meanings central to the story. "Kakushigoto" functions as a pun, blending "secret" (かくしごと, kakushi goto) and "drawing work" (描く仕事, kaku shigoto). His given name "Kakushi" (可久士) incorporates characters meaning "passable," "long time," and "samurai/gentleman." His surname "Gotou" (後藤) translates to "rear/wisteria." He is also revealed to be an illegitimate child (隠し子, kakushigo), adding another layer of secrecy. His family originates from a renowned Kabuki household.

Significant development occurs through non-linear storytelling involving future timelines. Years after the main story, Kakushi suffers an accident while working a warehouse job, resulting in a coma lasting at least one year. During this period, an 18-year-old Hime, now aware of his true profession, receives a key to the secret warehouse storing his lifetime of manuscripts and waits for him to awaken. This future reveals the eventual failure of his lifelong secret, showing Hime's acceptance.

His legacy is encapsulated in the vast collection of manga manuscripts preserved in the warehouse, representing both his professional output and the sacrifices made to shield his daughter. Despite the physical and emotional distance created by his secretive actions, the core motivation remained his profound love and desire to protect Hime's childhood innocence.
