Description
Ikki du Phénix, also known as Phoenix Ikki, serves as the Bronze Saint of the Phoenix constellation. His solitary and aggressive personality stems from brutal training under Guilty on Death Queen Island, an ordeal that embedded deep-seated hatred used as a power source. This past initially drove him as an antagonist, leading the Black Saints to seek vengeance against the Graude Foundation. He stole the Sagittarius Gold Cloth and confronted fellow Bronze Saints. Ultimately overcoming his resentment, he aligned with Athena, becoming a pivotal though independent ally in multiple conflicts.

He bears a distinctive vertical scar across his forehead and nose, sustained evading a fatal strike from Guilty intended for Esmeralda, the only romantic interest in his life. Her death unleashed his full wrath, resulting in Guilty's demise and cementing his warrior path. He stands 175 cm tall, weighs 62 kg, was born on August 15, and has blood type AB.

Ikki's combat abilities far exceed typical Bronze Saint rankings, rivaling or surpassing most Silver and Gold Saints in raw power. His signature techniques are the Hou Yoku Tenshou (Phoenix Wings Ascension), a wind-and-heat-based physical strike, and the Houou Genma Ken (Phoenix Illusion Demon Fist), which assaults opponents' minds by amplifying their fears and traumas. His Cosmos is fueled by intense aggression, hatred, and anger, yet remains guided by loyalty to Athena and profound love for his younger brother, Andromeda Shun. This duality enables unexpected power surges, especially when protecting others. Mirroring his mythical namesake, Ikki resurrects after death, often gaining strength with each revival. He awakened the Seventh Sense battling Virgo Shaka, achieving Gold Saint-level prowess, and later the Eighth Sense, allowing him to traverse the Underworld unhindered.

His Phoenix Cloth reflects his resilience, autonomously regenerating from atomic destruction without external repairs—a trait unmatched even by Gold Cloths. It evolved multiple times: first after Shaka restored it post-battle, again in the Underworld during the Hades conflict, and finally into a God Cloth upon contact with Athena's blood in Elysion. Non-canonically, it briefly manifested as the Sagittarius Gold Cloth.

Throughout key story arcs, Ikki intervenes timely to rescue Shun or allies. During the Sanctuary arc, he sacrificed himself against Shaka to aid the Bronze Saints' advance. In the Poseidon conflict, he defeated Lyumnades Kayza and extracted critical intelligence from Sea Dragon Kanon. In the Hades Chapter—Elysion, he defeated Garuda Aiacos but was killed by Hades (occupying Shun's body) and imprisoned in Cocytus. Resurrecting, he joined the final battle in Elysion, donning the Leo Gold Cloth against Thanatos under Athena's sanction, affirming his destiny as its future bearer.

In the canonical sequel *Saint Seiya: Next Dimension*, Ikki saves Shun from Artemis' satellites and travels to the 18th century. There, Kaiser of Leo designates him successor. He battles Specters alongside Cancer DeathToll and withstands Gemini Cain's Galaxian Explosion due to prior exposure to the technique.

Thirteen years post-Hades war in the spin-off *Saint Seiya Omega*, Ikki reappears wounded by Mars' darkness. After recovering, he confronts Pallasite commanders like Egéon, disappearing alongside him in a dimensional rift during their final clash. He later transmits his Cosmo to support Kōga's victory.

Ikki embodies a lone wolf persona: cold, abrasive, and reluctant to collaborate, yet unwavering in protecting Shun and allies. His actions consistently reflect self-sacrifice, nobility, and complex maturity. Wolf Nachi noted the stark contrast with Shun's gentle demeanor, making their fraternal bond initially surprising.
