Description
Kosuinen, real name Nen Kosugi, acts as the brain of the Clean Aku trio and leads the Skull Lease’s Northern Ostendel Branch as head director. Serving as the branch's primary scientist, he develops gadgets to sabotage the Time Lease crew and combat Ippatsuman, though he typically orders mechas from the separate division Machine Friend instead of building them. His personality features a hair-trigger temper, visibly marked by a forehead scar when angered, and he struggles intensely with job stress. Despite frequent clashes with his superior Mun-Mun, he harbors a non-romantic attraction to her and sometimes confides personal frustrations in colleague Kyokanchin.
Kosuinen is entangled in a strained marriage to the snobbish Tohoku Anna, who spends his earnings on luxury items; they have two children, Sorya and Korya. To avoid his family, he lives in an apartment across town from his workplace, often rushing to arrive on time. He married Anna due to her resemblance to Mun-Mun. His family dynamics appear in episode 40. At work, he pursues romantic interests with other women, particularly an obsession with coworker Piiko, who rejects him. Another coworker, Seko, harbors an unwelcome crush on him.
A fierce passion defines his character: making soba noodles. He excels at this skill and dreams of quitting Skull Lease to work in a restaurant. Mun-Mun thwarts this ambition, suspecting he would turn the organization into a noodle business. Her hypothetical vision of the trio decades later imagines him owning a global noodle chain. This culinary talent is suggested to have been passed down to a predecessor, Boyacky, in the *Royal Revival* OVA.
His background includes a bratty childhood where he bullied peers and cheated in sports, traits he later recalls fondly as foundational to his success, ironically overlooking how they contributed to his unsatisfying position. Professionally, he demonstrates intense determination to defeat Ippatsuman, especially across episodes 26-30, devising multiple strategies. One notable effort sees him adopt the alias "Gyakuten Sanpatsuman" and create mechas resembling Ippatsuman's Tokkyu-Saurus and Gyakuten-Oh. This arc culminates in a spiritual journey where he lures Ippatsuman without mecha support, a plan that briefly seems successful due to unanticipated interference from Tamashiro Kakure, president of Skull Lease's Western Ostendel Branch.
After Skull Lease collapses, Kosuinen departs on a train carrying only a job-search magazine, bidding farewell to colleagues while unaware Mun-Mun and Kyokanchin are also aboard. His subsequent activities remain unspecified, though the *Royal Revival* OVA implies he may have influenced Boyacky's noodle-making skills.
