Movie
Description
Senbei Norimaki, a genius inventor in Penguin Village, originated as a self-insert by creator Akira Toriyama. Orphaned young, he nurtured a lifelong aversion to dogs after one insulted his intelligence. During his time at Penguin Village Middle School, he harbored a crush on his teacher, hinting at his future romantic pursuits. His early inventions featured a talking alarm clock and a Future Camera that photographed subjects' appearances years ahead.
Norimaki's existence changed dramatically with the creation of Arale, an android resembling a young girl. He presented her inconsistently as either his sister or daughter to maintain her human facade. While acquiring panties for her, he resorted to cross-dressing to evade suspicion. He enrolled Arale in junior high, where he developed feelings for her teacher, Midori Yamabuki. This infatuation frequently drove his inventions, like the See-Thru Glasses, purportedly designed to improve Arale but intended to study female anatomy. The glasses shattered when Midori accidentally hit him with her scooter after Arale revealed she lacked a belly button.
His scientific endeavors often spiraled into absurdity or peril. He saved a wounded bear by converting it into a cyborg, utilizing parts from Arale's body before reconstructing her. The Big-Small Ray Gun, invented to resize objects, backfired when Arale enlarged herself. The Time Slipper time machine led to Norimaki aging rapidly after opening a box from the legendary Urashima Tarō. On another prehistoric journey, he acquired a mysterious egg that hatched into Gatchan, a winged baby he adopted.
Norimaki's persistent pursuit of Midori culminated in an accidental proposal while she used the toilet, resulting in their marriage. They later had a biological son, Turbo. Despite family responsibilities, his lecherous tendencies endured, though he displayed protective instincts, like ordering Arale to defend Goku from General Blue during the Red Ribbon Army incident. His scientific reputation faltered when he failed to repair Bulma's Dragon Radar, secretly requiring Turbo's help. However, he later achieved recognition by winning the "World Invention Award" for his Reality Machine #2, materializing imagined objects.
In the film *Penguin Mura wa Hare no chi Hare*, Norimaki's subplot involves his ongoing infatuation with his wife, Midori, amidst a monster threat. His inventions and quirks—including brief transformations into a taller, handsome version when confident—remain consistent across appearances in *Dragon Ball* and *Dragon Ball Super*.
