Ismael Larumbe

Description
Ismael Eduardo Larumbe Garrido is a Mexican actor and dubbing director, born on March 1, 1960, recognized for his extensive work in the Latin American Spanish dubbing industry, particularly in anime. He is the son of actors Ismael Larumbe Sr. and Amparo Garrido, and part of a family with a strong tradition in dubbing, including his siblings Clemen and Armando Larumbe.

Larumbe's career is most prominently defined by his long-standing portrayal of the character Tenshinhan across the entire Dragon Ball franchise. He has voiced the three-eyed warrior in the original Dragon Ball series, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Z Kai, and the more recent Dragon Ball Super and its associated films such as Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F'. This consistent performance over decades has made his voice iconic for fans of the series in Latin America.

Beyond his signature role, Larumbe has voiced a wide array of characters in classic anime. He was the first voice of Senbei Norimaki in the initial run of Dr. Slump & Arale-chan and later returned to the character for a guest appearance in Dragon Ball Super. His filmography includes the role of Principe Dandarn in Time Quest! (also known as La Máquina del Tiempo), for which he also served as the dubbing director and narrator. Other notable anime credits include Capitán Silver in the film Animal Treasure Island, the villain Arago in Legendary Armor Samurai Troopers, Shigeru Akamatsu in Betterman, and Ivan in Giant Robo.

In addition to his on-screen roles, Larumbe has worked extensively behind the scenes as a dubbing director. His directing credits include the Mexican dubs for series such as Dr. Slump & Arale-chan, Tekkaman Blade, and Gegege no Kitarō. He has also contributed his voice to a vast number of live-action films and television series, dubbing actors like Edward Norton in Fight Club, Clint Eastwood in Escape from Alcatraz, and Steve Carell in Vice.

Larumbe's engagement with his audience extends beyond traditional media. In 2024, he gained widespread attention by launching a fan-driven initiative where he offered to lend his voice to humorous internet memes featuring his character Tenshinhan, further solidifying his connection with the Dragon Ball fan community.
