Ivan acts as primary henchman and aide to Lord Alberto within the super-criminal organization Big Fire. A powerful esper, he wields superhuman speed and pilots Uranus, Big Fire's deadly robot weapon. He spearheads key assaults against the Experts of Justice.

During the attack on Interpol's Peking base, Ivan commands Uranus to pursue the fleeing Dr. Shizuma and the Experts, causing a vehicle crash that summons Giant Robo. Ivan later takes Daisaku Kusama hostage, recounting the Tragedy of Bashtarle. When Dr. Shizuma deploys the Shizuma Drive prototype, disabling Uranus with an anti-energy field, Ivan shoots the doctor before reactivating the robot. He escapes in Uranus's detached head after its body self-destructs.

In a subsequent Shanghai operation, Ivan pilots the rebuilt Uranus to dismantle the Experts' magnetic webbing. Daisaku Kusama's unauthorized arrival with Giant Robo interrupts the mission. During their battle, Uranus is lured dangerously close to the immobilized Eye of Volger. The Eye's emitted anti-Shizuma field powers down the robot, allowing Giant Robo to decapitate Uranus with a single punch. The ensuing explosion kills Ivan.

Ivan consistently displays unwavering loyalty to Lord Alberto and Big Fire's goals. His esper speed enhances his combat and tactics. His history connects deeply to the Tragedy of Bashtarle, which he references during the hostage incident. His narrative arc concludes with his death in Shanghai during Uranus's final destruction.
