TV-Series
Description
Doll Isamu is the third member of the Doll Knights, a trio of magical guardians who protect the princess of the Doll Kingdom. Unlike his comrades, Isamu begins the series as an antagonist, having been bound to the command of the primary villain, the demon Devaul. Before the events of the story, Isamu’s summoning device, a blue bracelet known as the Calling Watch, is stolen by the possessed Queen Yae, allowing Devaul to control him. Under this malicious influence, he is forced to confront the protagonist, Licca Kayama, and directly battle the other Doll Knights.
His personality, when freed from manipulation, reflects that of a dedicated and powerful warrior. He does not show malice but rather a misguided belief that his actions under Devaul are justified, earning him the classification of an anti-villain. His motivation shifts dramatically when Doll Licca manages to destroy Devaul's hold over him. Liberated from this control, Isamu makes a solemn pledge of loyalty to Dai Takabayashi, a human friend and classmate of Licca who becomes his rightful owner. From this point forward, his primary motivation is to use his strength to atone for his past actions and to safeguard Licca and her cause alongside the other Doll Knights.
In the story, Isamu serves as a formidable ally who rounds out the Doll Knight trio. While Licca’s main protector, Doll Licca, uses a long-range yo-yo and Doll Izumi wields a magical baton, Isamu is characterized by his direct and powerful melee combat style. He is summoned by his owner, Dai, using the incantation Pereso Perese Burune Buraine. His signature weapon is a massive blade known as Light Thunder, which he can use to cut through enemies or launch devastating energy projectiles from a distance, demonstrating a unique blend of close-quarters power and ranged capability.
His most significant relationship is with his human partner, Dai Takabayashi, a stubborn and short-tempered boy to whom he swears his allegiance post-redemption. He also shares a critical bond with Doll Licca, as it is her actions that physically free him from Devaul’s control, an event that facilitates his turn from villain to hero. His role in the narrative is largely static following his redemption, serving as a consistently powerful protector and a colleague to Doll Licca and Doll Izumi. His dedication to his new role persists into later series media, such as the film Licca-chan Zettai Zetsumei! Doll Knights no Kiseki, where he reunites with his fellow knights to face resurgent threats.
