TV-Series
Description
Licca Kayama begins her story as a cheerful, energetic elementary school student living an ordinary life, completely unaware of her royal lineage. She resides with her mother Orie Kayama, her grandmother Nanae Kayama, and her father Pierre Kayama, a musician often away due to travels early in the series. Her family fled the Doll Kingdom during her infancy to escape the demon Devaul, who possessed her grandaunt Yae and sought to kidnap Licca. This makes Licca the rightful princess of the Doll Kingdom, a truth hidden from her throughout much of the initial narrative.
She attends a Catholic school where her closest friends are Sumire Shinohara (her most trusted confidante), Dai Takabayashi (a classmate whose teasing irritates her, though he secretly harbors a crush), and Tomonori Michitani (an intellectually gifted boy). Licca develops romantic feelings for Rui Makiyama, a college student who moves nearby, intensifying Dai's jealousy. Her personality blends everyday timidity with remarkable courage in crises; she shows fear in mundane situations but demonstrates fearlessness confronting genuine peril.
Her ordinary existence shatters when the sorcerer Scarecrow, acting on Devaul's orders, attempts her abduction to seize the Doll Kingdom. To protect her, Nanae invokes a magical guardian, Doll Licca—a sentient doll transforming into a larger warrior using the incantation "Tururu Kururu Tureiro Kureira". Nanae gives Licca a pink "Calling Ring" bracelet that glows during danger, automatically summoning Doll Licca, who wields the magical yo-yo weapon "Light Spinner". Initially, Licca witnesses these rescues without understanding the doll's true nature or connection to her.
As threats escalate, additional protectors emerge: Doll Izumi (summoned via a green bracelet and the incantation "Fururu Furora Gurine Guraine") and Doll Isamu (invoked through a blue bracelet with "Pereso Perese Burune Buraine"). Doll Isamu initially serves the antagonists under Yae's control but defects to Licca's side after rescue by Doll Licca, with Dai becoming his summoner. Licca's friends gradually join her protective circle; Sumire gains the ability to summon Doll Izumi after discovering the invocation choker, while Dai activates Doll Isamu.
Licca's development progresses from obliviousness to active awareness of her heritage and the threats against her. She evolves from a passive beneficiary of protection to an engaged participant; her upgraded Calling Ring later enables her to directly summon Doll Licca during emergencies. Her familial background holds deeper complexities: her mother Orie abdicated royal duties to marry Pierre, a human, leading to their exile in the human world. The climax involves Pierre using his potent musical abilities to help defeat Devaul permanently.
Amid recurring kidnapping attempts by Scarecrow, his minions Puru and Waya, and later Devaul's creation Misty, Licca maintains her cheerful disposition while navigating friendships, school life, and romantic feelings. Her relationships feature recurring unrequited affections: Sumire admires Dai, who pursues Licca, who favors Rui—who himself becomes fascinated with Doll Licca. Despite these complexities and ongoing dangers, Licca's resilience and optimism endure, anchored by her friendships and familial bonds.
