Licca Kayama is the central protagonist of the anime Super Doll Licca-chan. She begins the story as a cheerful and energetic third-grade elementary school student living in a quiet Japanese suburb with her mother, Orie, and her grandmother, Nanae. Her father, Pierre, is a traveling musician, and her family life is warm and ordinary. Licca is bright, kind-hearted, and sometimes mischievous, often getting into playful arguments with her friend Dai but always showing a caring nature toward those around her. Initially, her grandmother uses a pendant to chant the magic words that summon Doll Licca, the first of the Doll Knights, to protect her. Later in the story, the bracelet is upgraded so that Licca herself can call upon Doll Licca and the other Knights when she and her friends are threatened.

Licca’s primary motivation is to protect her loved ones and preserve the normal life she cherishes. As the series progresses, she learns the truth about her royal lineage and the conflict that endangers Doll Land. This knowledge drives her to accept her responsibilities while still maintaining her optimistic and caring nature. She develops a close bond with the Doll Knights, especially Doll Licca, who serves as her protector and friend. Licca also shares a deep connection with her grandmother and mother, who have sacrificed much to keep her safe. Among her friends, she has a crush on her older neighbor, Rui, and shares a competitive but loyal friendship with Dai, Sumire, and Tomo.

Throughout the narrative, Licca grows from an ordinary girl unaware of her origins into a brave and determined young princess who willingly faces danger to save both the human world and Doll Land. She does not possess magical powers herself, but her courage, kindness, and ability to inspire others are her greatest strengths. The Calling Ring is her most notable enchanted item, allowing her to summon the Doll Knights in times of need.
