Description
Junichi Akiyoshi is a supporting character in the anime Massugu ni Ikou: Melon Pan-hen, where he serves as the boyfriend of the protagonist, Ikuko Wakatsuki. He is a high school student and a classmate of Ikuko. Akiyoshi is characterized by his light brown hair and handsome, well-defined features, making him a popular figure among his peers. Despite his attractive appearance, he is depicted as having a modest personality and is slightly self-conscious about his height, which he feels is a bit below average for a boy his age. He has a casual speech habit, often greeting people with "u hayo" instead of the standard "ohayo".

Akiyoshi’s background includes a significant personal history: he was adopted. He spent the first two years of his life in a nursery before being taken in by his current parents. He does not know the identity of his biological parents, but he has been raised with love and care, growing up in a happy and supportive household. He lives with his adoptive family in a pet-prohibited apartment building on the second floor. This family situation is a core part of his character, and he has struggled with feelings related to it; at one point, Ikuko was moved to tears after realizing she had made an insensitive comment because she was unaware of his circumstances.

In terms of personality, Akiyoshi is generally kind and earnest, though he can be a bit reserved. He was initially shy about his feelings for Ikuko, nursing a one-sided crush on her without being able to express himself. It was ultimately through the inadvertent actions of Ikuko's dog, Mametaro, that the two were given an opportunity to talk and eventually began their romantic relationship. Even after becoming a couple, Mametaro, who is deeply attached to Ikuko, continues to view Akiyoshi as a rival for her affections.

Akiyoshi’s role in the story is primarily defined by his relationship with Ikuko and his interactions with her pet. He is a steady and grounding presence in her life. His closest friend is Takeshi Ijuin, who is also a member of the tennis club, which both boys belong to. He is a diligent student who performs well academically, a trait his friend Takeshi attributes to his ability to memorize entire exam ranges, even if he sometimes struggles with applying the knowledge in a more flexible manner. He has also passed Level 3 of the Eiken English proficiency test.

Throughout the narrative, Akiyoshi does not undergo dramatic personality shifts, but his development is seen in the growing comfort and deepening of his bond with Ikuko as they navigate their relationship. As a pet owner is not, he lacks notable abilities related to animals, but he is a capable tennis player and a committed student. His steady, reliable nature is presented as his greatest strength, providing a contrast to the more spontaneous and sometimes chaotic world seen from the perspective of the dogs.
