TV-Series
Description
Kakeru is the main protagonist of Saru Getchu ~On Air~ 2nd, a ten-year-old elementary school student known for his energetic and determined personality. He is a fourth-grader who takes on the mission of capturing the mischievous Pipo Monkeys that are spreading chaos under the command of the intelligent villain Specter. Kakeru is often described as spunky and possessing a great deal of spunk, which drives him to confront the various monkey-related incidents that occur throughout the series.

His personality is competitive yet good-natured, and he frequently engages in a friendly rivalry with his classmate and best friend, Hiroki. While Kakeru is energetic and shows strong determination in pursuing monkeys and protecting others, his thinking can sometimes be straightforward, which occasionally frustrates his more strategic allies. He has a notable dislike for schoolwork but responds positively to food-based rewards. Despite his sometimes simple approach, Kakeru demonstrates a genuine capacity for compassion, such as when he cries after mistakenly believing a baby monkey died from a fall, revealing a caring side to his nature.

In the story, Kakeru serves as the primary field agent, using specialized gadgets to capture monkeys and stop Specter's plans. He works closely with the Professor, a genius inventor who created the Pipo Helmet, and Natsumi, the Professor's granddaughter who acts as the laboratory operator. His key relationships include his best friend and rival Hiroki, and he also develops a romantic interest in Haruka, a world-famous mecha-fighting champion, often blushing when he encounters her. Their friendship begins when Kakeru waits all day for her autograph, and after she personally signs his shirt, a lasting bond is formed where they readily help each other.

Throughout the second season, Kakeru experiences development, both in appearance and in his role. He receives a more mature design, sporting a white hooded jacket with red accents, light blue jeans, and protective goggles worn on his head. The narrative of the second season introduces the Neo Pipotrons as the true antagonists, who seek to use Specter's DNA for their own purposes. This leads to a significant shift where Kakeru ultimately finds himself cooperating with Specter against this new, greater threat. His motivations remain consistent in his commitment to protecting others and correcting the disruptions caused by the monkeys and their controllers.

As a monkey catcher, Kakeru wields several notable abilities and gadgets. His primary tools are the Get Net, used for capturing monkeys, and the Stun Club for close-quarters combat. While he is resourceful with these devices, his straightforward thinking can sometimes be a disadvantage in complex situations. He fights alongside his friends using their teleporter and gadgets, working as a team to capture monkeys and foil the plans of antagonists like Specter and the Neo Pipotrons.
