Description
Apache serves as Lio Convoy's second-in-command among the Gaia-based Maximals. He possesses a short-tempered, no-nonsense attitude and operates as a rigid perfectionist, demanding exceptional performance from his subordinates while holding himself to even higher standards. This often triggers intense self-criticism; he habitually shoulders personal blame for failures or setbacks, feeling the weight of the world upon him. He harbors profound reverence for Lio Convoy, considering any failure in front of him a grave dishonor.

A formative experience during his trainee days shaped his loyalty. Collapsing in a grueling live-fire exercise, Apache was ordered abandoned as a washout. Lio Convoy, then known as Convoy, defied orders by sharing his dwindling energy reserves. Supporting each other, both succeeded. This act forged Apache's unwavering loyalty, leading him to vow to protect Convoy as his deputy.

A significant psychological aspect is his subconscious "dark side," fueled by repressed anger and self-doubt. Under extreme stress or rage, he involuntarily accesses a powerful third transformation: "Angry Combat Mode," an artillery platform configuration. In this berserk state, he unleashes devastating firepower but retains no memory afterward. This mode first manifested when Mantis captured him and threatened Lio Convoy within ancient ruins. Overwhelmed by the need to protect his commander, Apache transformed and fired a blast that collapsed the ruins, saving Lio Convoy yet leaving Apache unaware of his actions upon reverting.

His disciplined nature frequently causes clashes with reckless teammates like Tasmania Kid, whom he chastised for tardiness, and the fun-loving Jointron brothers. Their chaotic antics and Mexican fiesta decorations, including dressing Apache in a sombrero and poncho, provoke his ire; he finds them particularly disruptive to operational efficiency.

Operationally, Apache demonstrates tactical competence and loyalty. When an initial mission investigating an SOS signal resulted in Lio Convoy's apparent disappearance, Apache blamed himself intensely, drowning his sorrows in oil—clarified as a grief reaction. He assumed temporary command, though the team later departed without him. On Gaia, after scanning a mandrill for survival, he rejoined the team. He participated in numerous battles against Galvatron's Predacons, the Insectrons, and the Autorollers. Key roles included forging an alliance with the Insectrons by shielding them from a rockslide with his body and later mediating tensions between the Insectrons and Autorollers.

Beyond the *Beast Wars II* anime, Apache appears in supplementary media. The *Beast Wars II* manga portrays him consistently with the anime. Within IDW Publishing's *Beast Wars* comics, he is a longstanding member of Lio Convoy's covert special operations unit, "the Pack." He prepared for a mission to Earth upon receiving Razorbeast's distress signal alongside other Pack members.
