Designated Bruticus Maximus in this continuity, Bruticus is a Combiner forged from the five Destruction Team members: Barricade (forming the central torso), Blackout, Blight, Kickback, and Stormcloud. He originates as one of four ancient Combiner robots charged with guarding the Super Energon pools deep within Cybertron, remaining in stasis for millions of years. His reactivation occurs when Megatron destroys Dauntless Maximus, the active guardian, breaking the seal and awakening Bruticus Maximus and his counterparts. Unlike the Autobot guardian Superion Maximus, who protests Megatron's theft of the Super Energon, Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus willingly abandon their duty upon witnessing Megatron's power. They pledge loyalty to Megatron, now reborn as Galvatron, believing he represents Cybertron's future under Decepticon domination, marking a permanent shift in allegiance.
Bruticus Maximus actively serves Galvatron's campaigns, engaging in multiple battles against the Autobots. He fights Omega Supreme during the Decepticon assault on the *Miranda II* and later pursues Kicker and Omnicons attempting to disrupt an Energon cloud blocking Autobot access to Cybertron. He also confronts Superion Maximus in simulated and real battles, frequently alongside Constructicon Maximus. During a critical confrontation on Cybertron, Superion Maximus attacks both Decepticon Combiners in a vengeful rage. Initially overpowered, Bruticus Maximus and Constructicon Maximus gain the upper hand and pin down Superion. Superion launches his limbs to immobilize Constructicon Maximus, enabling Storm Jet to fatally crush his spark. Enraged by his ally's death, Bruticus Maximus destroys Superion's limbs and begins crushing him. A spectral image of Dauntless Maximus intervenes, severing Bruticus's arm and freeing Superion. Superion Maximus then merges with Constructicon Maximus's discarded limbs, pierces Bruticus Maximus's spark, and triggers a catastrophic explosion that destroys him.
His combined form utilizes a universal connection system, permitting limb components to be interchanged with those of other Combiners like Superion Maximus or Buildron, though his canonical configuration remains consistent with the Destruction Team, reflecting the shared engineering among the era's Combiner teams.
