Makoto Yasumura is a Japanese voice actor born on March 28, 1975, in Tokyo, Japan. He began his career in the year 2000 and is currently active in the industry. For a significant portion of his career, he was affiliated with the talent management firm Sigma Seven. In the early years following his debut, Yasumura built his experience by taking on numerous minor and supporting roles in a wide variety of anime series. A notable early leading role came in 2006 when he was cast as the protagonist Fumihiko Matsumaru in the short-form anime series Rec. He has since become known for a diverse range of characters, from comedic and loud personalities to more serious and subdued figures. This range is evident in roles such as the eccentric Hayato Tani in School Rumble and its sequels, the skilled pitcher Ken Mayumura in the long-running sports anime Major, and the calculating Oingo in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders. Yasumura has also taken on roles in major franchise sequels, notably inheriting the role of the monk Miroku for the series Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon and its second act, following the character's original voice actor. His filmography includes a wide array of other titles, such as the role of Mark in Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal, Buzz Cunningham in Zoids Wild Zero, Camus in Detroit Metal City, Shouji Suyama in Big Windup!, and Father in the Chi's Sweet Adventure series. He has also contributed his voice to the Transformers franchise, voicing characters like Bruticus, Red Alert, and Wheeljack in Transformers: Energon. Throughout his career, Yasumura has been known for his long-standing friendship with fellow voice actor Yoshino Hiroyuki, with whom he has frequently worked.
