Description
Johnny Beppu is a prominent male character known for his vibrant energy and expertise in dance. He works as a teacher and dance choreographer at Starlight Academy, where he has served as the homeroom instructor for multiple generations of students, including Ichigo Hoshimiya, Aoi Kiriya, Ran Shibuki, and later Akari Ōzora, Juri Kurebayashi, and Yū Hattori.

Before becoming an educator, Johnny Beppu was renowned as a dancing genius and one of the best coaches in the world. During his youth, he worked as the choreographer for the legendary idol group Masquerade and has maintained a close friendship with the group's former member, Orihime Mitsuishi, ever since. He was also one half of a legendary dance unit called Sunny & Johnny, with whom he reigned as a king of the dance world. His stage name is Johnny, and his true given name is kept secret.

Johnny Beppu is characterized by an extremely lively and theatrical personality. He approaches life with a flair for the dramatic, often treating everyday situations as a performance and using his signature catchphrase, Galaxy Amazing, it's SHOWTIME. He constantly mixes English words and phrases into his speech, though his meaning is often hard for others to understand. He affectionately refers to his students as Honnies and gives them customized nicknames, such as calling Ichigo Starmiya and Mizuki Kanzaki Beautiful Moon. While he is frequently silly, fun, and occasionally tries to act as a Casanova with little success, he is also a humble, wise, and insightful person who can become serious and stern when the situation demands it, such as when a student's safety is at risk.

Within the story, Johnny Beppu's primary role is as a supportive mentor and instructor. He is responsible for announcing major auditions, moderating school events, and providing dance lessons that encourage students to think for themselves and find their own solutions. He acts as a trusted confidant to headmistress Orihime Mitsuishi, whose thoughts he can often predict, though he is also known to be somewhat afraid of her from time to time. He has a recurring comedic role in audition episodes and school plays, often portraying exaggerated villains or strange characters, such as a delinquent student, a vampire teacher, or an alien intent on universal conquest.

His key relationships include his steadfast alliance with Orihime Mitsuishi, whom he fondly calls Academy Mother, and his friendship with fellow teacher Naoto Suzukawa. A significant relationship is with his former dance partner Sunny, whose reunion with him leads to Johnny replacing his signature worn-out green track suit with a new red one. Johnny also has a younger sister named Elisa Bepp, whom he deeply loves and raised after their father's death; his difficulty in letting go of his protective role over her is a central focus of an episode about her wedding.

In terms of development, Johnny Beppu's past as a legendary performer is a key part of his background, but his evolution is seen in his enduring dedication to nurturing the next generation. His character deepens with the revelation of his family ties and the reunion with his old partner, which brings a sense of closure and new energy to his present. His notable abilities include being an exceptionally skilled dancer and choreographer capable of teaching students from different schools, such as those from Dream Academy, without prejudice. He is also capable of performing a Special Appeal, specifically the Cute Flash.
