Description
Ayu Daikuuji is the daughter of the CEO of the Daikuuji financial group, owners of the Sky Temple restaurant chain. She goes undercover at a branch as part of a market study, forbidden from revealing her true identity, gaining firsthand societal experience while researching for the family business. Working as a waitress, her frequent companion is colleague Tamano Mayu.
Within the Ayumayu Theater series, she serves as a primary comedic focus, engaging in absurd scenarios separate from the main Kimi ga Nozomu Eien plot. These include parodying other franchises: performing unconventional surgery on Haruka Suzumiya, battling the 00 Unit in the Hinokagutsuchi mech, and confronting BETA forces reimagined as internet-obsessed otaku. She breaks the fourth wall, gathering characters from other Âge titles to announce the Ayumayu Theater anime.
She exhibits a rivalry with Meiya Mitsurugi, representing the competing Mitsurugi conglomerate. Ayumayu Theater explores this directly through confrontations, including Ayu taunting Meiya about receiving a spin-off series. Earlier media subtly hints at this corporate tension, like Meiya's displeasure at mentions of Sky Temple.
Beyond Ayumayu Theater, she appears in spin-offs like *Daikuuji Kiki Ippatsu*, where protagonist Jun Ibuki pursues her in a *Saint Seiya* parody. She also features in the visual novel *Ayu-Mayu Alternative*, reimagined within a *Muv-Luv Alternative*-inspired setting, expanding her role into sci-fi parodies.
Her portrayal across media consistently depicts her as an individual of privileged background navigating ordinary workplaces, often with a sarcastic or surly demeanor, while embroiled in increasingly outlandish cross-franchise adventures.
