Trowa Barton, born Triton Bloom, carries a past shaped by early trauma and lost identity. Separated as an infant from his sister Catherine Bloom during a conflict that killed their parents, he suffered a head injury causing amnesia, leaving him nameless and memoryless. Known only as "No-Name," he survived from roughly age ten as a mercenary mobile suit pilot. A mission led him to Alliance spy Middie Une; her betrayal destroyed his mercenary group. Though angered, he spared her life, recognizing her motives.
He later served as a mechanic for the Barton Foundation on the Gundam Heavyarms. Witnessing the original Trowa Barton—son of leader Dekim Barton—murdered by a dissenting scientist, he volunteered to assume the deceased's identity and pilot Heavyarms for the revised Operation Meteor, which sought to avoid civilian casualties instead of destroying colonies. On Earth, he adopted a civilian cover in a circus, unknowingly reuniting with Catherine. His amnesia prevented recognition, yet he formed strong bonds with her and the circus troupe.
His combat style prioritized analytical precision and overwhelming firepower, utilizing Heavyarms' extensive armaments. He repeatedly infiltrated enemy organizations like OZ, posing as a volunteer to pilot the prototype Vayeate mobile suit. During a battle against Quatre Raberba Winner piloting Wing Zero, the Vayeate was destroyed, leaving Trowa adrift in space with severe amnesia. Rescued and brought to a colony, he was found by Catherine, who protected him from further conflict. His memories only resurfaced after re-entering Wing Zero and experiencing its ZERO System.
Post-war, he returned to the circus but participated in the Mariemaia Army uprising as a double agent, sabotaging Dekim Barton's revived Operation Meteor. He piloted the space-modified Heavyarms Kai until exhausting its ammunition. After the symbolic disposal of the Gundams, he retained the name "Trowa Barton" at his friends' urging. Years later in the sequel *Frozen Teardrop*, he worked under the alias "Doktor T," developing mobile suits and mentoring a younger look-alike named Trowa Phobos.
Throughout his journey, Trowa displayed stoicism and emotional reserve, though he forged significant connections, particularly with Quatre. His character arc centered on reconciling his fractured identity and finding belonging beyond warfare.
