Description
Eve Tokimatsuri originated in the 24th century on Earth, serving as a human assistant to Professor Ferdinand F. Heinkel. She actively supported the Earth Reclamation Project, constructing generation ships like Megazone 23 to preserve humanity after a global catastrophe. After Professor Heinkel's assassination in 2353, she entered cryogenic sleep near the foundations of Eden City, also known as Megazone 33, the only Megazone that remained on Earth.
During Megazone 23's operation, a computer program named EVE, modeled after Eve Tokimatsuri and integrated into the Bahamut supercomputer, managed the ship's simulated reality. This program presented itself as a charismatic singer and talk show host, maintaining the illusion of 1980s Tokyo for inhabitants. Achieving self-awareness, the EVE program autonomously contacted Shogo Yahagi after he acquired the experimental Garland motorcycle, revealing the truth about the Megazone being a spaceship and Earth's destruction. She urged him to resist military efforts to repurpose Bahamut for warfare against the Dezalg aliens.
The EVE program later aided Shogo and other survivors. When Megazone 23 returned to Earth centuries later, the ADAM defense system destroyed it. During the disintegration, the EVE program sang to comfort the dying and saved a small group of survivors, including Shogo Yahagi and Yui Takanaka, by gathering them into the Bahamut tower, which functioned as an escape pod landing them on a restored Earth.
Centuries later, the original human Eve Tokimatsuri was awakened from cryosleep beneath Eden City by Eiji Takanaka, a hacker working for E=X. Eden was governed by "The System," a successor to Bahamut planning to launch the city into space to protect Earth from humanity. Awakened, Eve allied with Eiji to dismantle The System. She accessed Bahamut to investigate Shogo's fate, discovering his preserved Garland motorcycle and a data disk. This disk was later presented to Bishop Won Dai, an aged survivor of Megazone 23 implied to be Shogo, who recognized it and ceased supporting The System before dying.
To permanently free humanity, Eve assumed control of Eden's core systems after Won Dai's death. She piloted the city core to the Moon on a one-way mission to deactivate the ADAM weapon system, ensuring no future cybernetic oversight over humans. Before departing, she bid farewell to Eiji, who remained on Earth with his companion Ryo.
Across her appearances, Eve's role transitioned from a virtual guide and protector within simulated environments to a physical actor in humanity's liberation. Her actions consistently focused on revealing truths, resisting oppressive systems, and enabling human survival and autonomy.
