Kumi Miyasato

Description
Kumi Miyasato is a former Japanese singer and voice actor who was active in the entertainment industry during the mid-to-late 1980s. She was born on October 1, 1969, in Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Her career began in 1984 when she participated in a talent scout competition organized by the production company Horipro and emerged as one of the winners in the Tokyo Preliminary Tournament. She was initially signed with Horipro as a model.

Miyasato's entry into voice acting was directly tied to the original video animation project Megazone 23. She expressed interest in the project and auditioned for the role of the character Eve Tokimatsuri. Her singing abilities during the audition impressed both her management and the OVA's producers, leading to her being cast in the part. For her work on the series, she also performed the choreography for the character Eve, which was videotaped and used by the animators as a reference.

Her acting career is defined by this single, pivotal role. She provided the voice for Eve Tokimatsuri in the first two installments of the Megazone 23 OVA series, Megazone 23 Part I and Megazone 23 Part II. The character is a computer-simulated pop idol, and Miyasato's vocal performance, encompassing both spoken dialogue and sung pieces, is often cited as a defining element of the series' success. Megazone 23 Part I is noted as the second OVA ever produced and the first to turn a profit, with Miyasato's contribution frequently highlighted as a key factor. These two Megazone 23 installments are widely considered to be her only acting credits. She did not reprise the role of Eve for Megazone 23 Part III, nor for the 2007 video game Megazone 23: Aoi Garland.

Parallel to her voice acting, Miyasato pursued a career as a pop singer and idol. She was signed to the Victor Records label. Her debut single, Senakagoshi ni Sentimental, was released on February 5, 1985, as a tie-in song for Megazone 23, preceding the OVA's release the following month. In October 1985, she released her first album, Hitomi de Whispering, which is also known by the alternative title I Only Have Eyes For You. She recorded a total of five songs for the Megazone 23 project. Beyond the soundtrack work, her discography includes three original studio albums and two greatest hits albums released in Japan, all of which are long out of print. She sometimes used the alias Satomi when working as a lyricist. Miyasato retired from the entertainment industry in March 1989.
