Description
Renais Cardiff Shishiô is the daughter of Raiga Shishiou and Freres Cardiff. BioNet agents murdered her mother in 2002, subsequently abducting Renais and forcibly converting her into a Metal Cyborg. Over the next two years, they trained her as a killing machine and demanded loyalty, but she rebelled, attacking her captors using her installed weapons. Punished for this defiance, BioNet restrained her in a facility and abandoned her to die in 2004. She was discovered and rescued by Chasseur, a French intelligence agency partnered with the Gutsy Galaxy Guard.
Raiga Shishiou, present in France, intervened to save her life by integrating a portable GS-Generator into her cybernetics. Despite this, he could not resolve a critical design flaw: her body generates extreme heat, necessitating constant wear of a specialized cooling coat to prevent overheating. Without this coat, physical contact poses a severe burn risk to ordinary humans. Soldato J, originating from the high-temperature environment of the Red Planet, can touch her safely.
Following her rescue, Renais dedicated herself to Chasseur, focusing on dismantling BioNet and showing no mercy toward its members. Her combat role partnered her with agents like the late Erik Fowler and later Porc-Auto. A smaller portion of her body was cybernetically altered compared to other cyborgs like Guy Shishiou. Like Guy, she can activate an E-quip form and access Hyper Mode under specific conditions; during Hyper Mode, her cooling coat expands and stiffens into lateral vanes to manage increased heat exchange.
Her relationship with Soldato J evolved through mutual respect forged battling adversaries Pillnus and Pia Decem. This culminated in their joint piloting of King J-Der near the conflict's end against the 11 Planetary Masters of Sol. This partnership later influenced pilot selection protocols for the Super Neuromechanoid GaoGaiGo.
Her name exhibits spelling inconsistencies across sources: first name variations include "Lune," "Rune," "Renat," and "René," while maternal surname variations are "Cardiff" or "Cirdef." Official GaoGaiGar FINAL materials and the novel *The King of Braves GaoGaiGar: Queen of Leo <Leon Reine>* standardize it as "Renais Kerdif Shishiou." Originally identifying solely with her mother's surname "Cardiff" due to her parents' lack of legal marriage and resulting social stigma, she later reconciled with Raiga and adopted the Shishiou name.
In the novel *Hakaiou: GaoGaiGar vs Betterman*, she reappears with corrupted morals. Her background includes elements of parental neglect, contributing to a complex and initially distant relationship with Raiga.
