Description
Seto Ichitaka is a 16-year-old high school student defined by profound shyness and social anxiety, especially concerning romance, rooted in a traumatic childhood rejection by Miyoko Kawasaki. This experience forged emotional barriers and defensive mechanisms around girls he finds attractive.

He possesses spiky black hair, a fair complexion, and is usually clad in his school uniform. A key aspect is his propensity for vivid daydreams and imagination, frequently amplifying his fears or hopes to the point of distraction during real interactions.

His central conflict is a deep but hidden affection for classmate Iori Yoshizuki. Despite numerous chances, he consistently fails to confess due to fear of rejection and misinterpretations of her actions. This pattern endures even after Iori gains public attention through a swimsuit magazine spread, heightening his insecurity about her valuing genuine connection over superficial admiration.

Key relationships shape his journey:
- Best friend Yasumasa Teratani offers often-misguided romantic advice that sometimes worsens misunderstandings.
- Childhood friend Itsuki Akiba, returning from America, openly expresses affection and temporarily lives with him. While he cares for her, his emotional commitment remains with Iori, creating tension. Itsuki eventually departs for America but persists as an internal voice during his moments of self-doubt.
- Younger classmate Izumi Isozaki, met during a beach trip, aggressively pursues him, complicating matters through his discomfort with her advances and guilt over loyalty to Iori.
- Aiko Asō, bearing a strong resemblance to Iori, later develops mutual feelings with him. Recognizing the potential harm to his relationship with Iori, she voluntarily moves away.

Gradually maturing from a passive observer, he intervenes multiple times to protect Iori from assault attempts, notably confronting the antagonist "Marionette King." This culminates in a physical fight where he sustains a head injury, resulting in a coma from which he eventually emerges spurred by Iori's voice.

His development peaks during a pivotal "Christmas Miracle": after a near-miss confession on a train, Iori returns to reciprocate his feelings, leading to their mutual confession and romantic union. This breakthrough signifies his growth in overcoming emotional paralysis to embrace vulnerability.

In later years as a third-year student, he continues navigating ongoing relationship challenges with Iori, including collaborative school projects that reignite old insecurities. Yet, his persistent efforts to communicate and protect her demonstrate his evolution from a timid adolescent to a more resolved, though still imperfect, young adult.
