Description
Pop Harukaze is the younger sister of Doremi Harukaze and the fourth witch apprentice to join the main group. Initially, she did not get along with her older sister, frequently picking on her and believing Doremi was destined to fail due to her clumsiness and lack of focus. In contrast, Pop earned admiration from peers and adults for her responsible and mature demeanor. This behavior originated from Pop's feelings of inferiority toward Doremi, who maintained many friendships despite her personal struggles. Their mother taught Doremi to play the piano but not Pop, and Doremi used to push her away during their childhood. Pop eventually came to terms with these issues, leading her to appreciate and look up to her sister once again.

In appearance, Pop resembles Doremi, sharing the same light skin and round mulberry eyes, though Pop's have a red hue. Her pink hair is styled in wing-like pigtails with loose sections at the bottom of her head. She first wore a light pink and white smock from kindergarten with a red skirt and light pink shoes, later switching to a light cyan and white blouse with matching sneakers.

Pop displays maturity and responsibility for her age, often praised for her charisma and kindness. She knows how to persuade others respectfully and defends her friends, refusing to tolerate mean behavior. Still a child, her capabilities are sometimes limited by an early curfew, bedtime, or restrictions from joining certain activities. Despite her earlier treatment of Doremi, Pop shares similarities with her, such as struggling with design or crafting, having a temperamental side, and behaving like Doremi when she has a crush.

Pop became the red witch apprentice after purchasing Majorika from the shop and witnessing Doremi, Hazuki, and Aiko in their transformed states. To keep the secret, Majorika made her an apprentice. As a witch, Pop proved more competent than Doremi, taking her apprenticeship seriously after learning a lesson in responsibility. Her progression was slow because exams occurred at night, and she often fell asleep due to her young age. She did not receive her crystal ball until the penultimate episode of the series. Her fairy is Fafa, and her crystal ball is a red clover. Pop participated in Magical Stage a few times, using specific spells for transformation and magic.

In the light novel series, Pop is in sixth grade and is taught by Seki, who became her teacher in fifth grade. She plans to attend Karen Girls Academy to become a pianist after graduation. She has a thinner, older frame but stands a few inches shorter than Doremi. Her hair wings are smaller, and the loose tufts at the bottom of her head are barely visible. She is often shown wearing her uniform. While she and Doremi maintain their bond from the end of the original series, Pop often teases her. She is serious about her school grades and looks forward to growing up to become a professional pianist.

Pop shares a complex but ultimately respectful and caring bond with Doremi. She initially thought Hazuki was paid by Doremi to be her friend, but Hazuki finds Pop mature and adorable. Aiko likes to tease Doremi about Pop's maturity, and Pop admires Aiko, thanking her for being Doremi's friend. Pop holds great fondness for Onpu and is likely a fan, having spent time with her during Onpu's period as a rival. She sacrificed her magic out of love for Onpu when Onpu fell into a coma, and Onpu is kind and understanding in return. Pop has limited interaction with Momoko, who offers her cooking tips and enjoys seeing Pop help in the shop. She is close to Hana-chan due to their similar ages and wants to assist in caring for her. In later series, Pop sometimes grew annoyed by Hana's progress as an apprentice, though they remained willing to help each other. In the OVA series, they were revealed to envy each other for the things the other possessed.

Pop's background includes a period in infancy when she admired Doremi and followed her around, but Doremi, jealous of the attention, pushed her away and made her cry. This early dynamic contributed to their later conflicts.

Pop's character development throughout the series shows her evolution from a condescending younger sister to a supportive and appreciative sibling, all while maintaining her mature and responsible traits. Her journey as a witch apprentice and her relationships with other characters highlight her growth and personal complexities.
