Description
Dorami is a robotic character from the 22nd century, created as an advanced model to assist her sibling Doraemon during his recovery. Designed without ears but featuring a distinctive red bow to suit her supportive purpose, she has a cobalt yellow body, pink "make-up," a blue neck band, and a flower-shaped tail. She lacks whiskers but possesses eyelashes, with her 4D pocket displaying red crossed stripes.

Technically superior to Doraemon, Dorami produces 10,000 horsepower compared to his 129.3 horsepower and possesses more sophisticated gadgets, including a uniquely designed Time Machine. Her gadgets often exhibit aesthetic differences, such as a pink take-copter and a flower-shaped Anywhere Door or Small Light. Her design is not watertight. Academically accomplished, she was the smartest student during her training and demonstrates greater proficiency in using tools.

Typically responsible, kind, and sensible, Dorami generally endears herself to others but can display anger when confronted with disruptive behavior. She has a fondness for melon bread and a pronounced fear of cockroaches. She dislikes untidiness and resents being called "Pufferfish."

Her relationships are multifaceted. She shares a supportive sibling bond with Doraemon, often critical of his methods in assisting Nobita but deeply concerned for his well-being, sometimes forcibly taking him for mechanical check-ups. Doraemon admires her bow, considering it cute. Her romantic relationship with Dora the Kid involves frequent arguments, usually resolved quickly with mutual apologies. She expressed disapproval of his hot-headedness, leading him to seek Doraemon's help to temporarily modify his personality. Another conflict arose when he used a gift from her (an air gun) violently, prompting her to secure his promise against such actions. Dora the Kid demonstrated unique insight into her character, distinguishing her from impostors by declaring she is "not a crybaby." With Nobita, she exhibits notable compassion, consoling him during Doraemon's absences and recognizing his unhappiness, which led her to facilitate Doraemon's return.

Her background includes being "siblings" with Doraemon due to shared fuel from the same canister, though her lubricant was drawn from sterilized dense parts, contrasting with his contaminated top slick. She first appeared in manga in March 1973, initially conceptualized as Doraemon's girlfriend based on a reader's suggestion, but was redefined as his sister in April 1973. This girlfriend role was later assigned to Noramyako. Her name may derive from the French "ami" (friend) or Latin "amīcus."

She has been featured in spin-off media, including her own manga series and the theme song "Hello! Dorami-chan," which remains unchanged in later series adaptations. While absent from the 1973 anime, she appeared on its theme song cover.
