TV-Series
Description
Laika is a red dragon originating from Nanterre province. She first declares herself the region's strongest being. Following her defeat by Azusa in a challenge, she sheds her arrogance and earnestly requests to become Azusa's student, seeking self-improvement. She subsequently joins Azusa's household, integrating as both an apprentice and a valued member of the found family. Her relationship with Azusa evolves into a Cool Big Sis dynamic; Laika deeply admires Azusa as a role model, yet occasionally positions herself as Azusa's surrogate big sister, much to Azusa's chagrin.
In human form, Laika manifests as a short, youthful girl with a childlike stature. She has chin-length ginger hair styled in a bob cut, rose hip-colored eyes, and two black horns protruding backward from either side of her head. Her attire consists of a white puff-shoulder bell-sleeve blouse featuring a standing collar tied with a black ribbon. This is complemented by a double-breasted apron dress that reveals a white petticoat. She wears a black corset-like garment over the dress, solid black tights or stockings, and distinctive red bulldog toe boots with an orange saddle and collar.
Personality-wise, Laika carries the legendary pride of the Red Dragon tribe, combined with inherent politeness and a powerful sense of honor. She treats others respectfully regardless of reputation, adhering to principles of fair play and valuing seniority earned through strength. This disposition shifts dramatically when she interacts with members of the Blue Dragon tribe, whom she views with deep hostility due to their clans' history as mortal enemies. Her competitive nature surfaces frequently, particularly in rivalries with Flatorte, a blue dragon who later joins the household. These rivalries manifest in cooking contests and physical competitions, with Laika often emerging victorious.
Her abilities include fire-breathing, flight in her dragon form, and significant physical strength capable of destroying structures. She employs a signature "Dragon Kick" in combat. Beyond fighting, she possesses practical skills such as constructing protective magic circles for villages and proficient cooking—she uses her fire breath to heat cooking pots and prepares dishes like "amazing and well-seasoned" omelets. Her knowledge extends to academic pursuits from her attendance at an all-girls' school in her youth.
Laika's character development centers on her transition from a solitary, strength-focused dragon to a more integrated and socially aware individual. While she retains her core tenacity and refusal to back down from challenges, her interactions with Azusa and the household soften her initial solitary nature. She develops a fondness for being cuddled in her smaller dragon form, indicating growing comfort with vulnerability. Her loyalty and protective instincts toward the family deepen, reinforcing her role within the group. She learns to balance her dragon heritage's pride with the value of cooperation and emotional bonds, particularly evident under Azusa's mentorship emphasizing an anti-overwork philosophy.
