Gokan-Ou stands as one of the Ten Yanluo Lords governing Jigoku within Chinese mythology, presiding specifically over the Saṃghāta and Aṭaṭa hells. In the Buddhist Thirteen Buddhas tradition, he serves as a judge of the dead under Samantabhadra (Fugen).
He possesses pale purple skin, a thick build, and a notably bulbous nose. His features include pointed ears, messy black hair, bushy eyebrows, a thin mustache, and an unkempt beard. His eyes exhibit white sclerae with dull yellow irises and black pupils. His attire consists of a blue robe revealing an orange underside, secured by a purple and red belt.
