Jolyne Cujoh, daughter of Jotaro Kujo and born around 1992, endured a childhood strained by her father's frequent work absences. A life-threatening illness at age six passed without his visit. By fourteen, she faced false robbery accusations; fleeing police on a stolen motorcycle led to juvenile detention, fueling rebellious tendencies. Her parents' divorce deepened her resentment, culminating in joining the Hell Riders motorcycle gang. At nineteen, a car driven by her boyfriend Romeo Jisso struck and killed a pedestrian. Persuaded to help dispose of the body, Jolyne was wrongfully convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to fifteen years at Green Dolphin Street Prison.
Upon arrival, Jolyne received a pendant from her mother—later revealed to be sent by Jotaro. It contained a Stand arrow fragment that pricked her finger, awakening her Stand ability, Stone Free. This power lets her unravel her body into resilient, versatile string for mobility or surveillance, or reconstitute it into a powerful humanoid Stand. Scarred by her father's abandonment, she initially displayed a volatile, distrustful nature, reacting violently in fights and holding deep grudges. Early prison conflicts included defeating her manipulative cellmate Gwess using her nascent Stand.
A pivotal shift occurred during Jotaro's prison visit to warn her of family enemies. When the Stand user Pucci and Johngalli A attacked, Jotaro sacrificed himself to shield her. Pucci extracted Jotaro's memory and Stand discs, leaving him comatose. Hearing her father's final words of love transformed Jolyne's motivation. Choosing to stay in prison, she resolved to recover Jotaro's discs and stop Pucci, demonstrating newfound maturity and resolve. This commitment forged her leadership among inmates Ermes Costello, Foo Fighters, Weather Report, Emporio Alniño, and Narciso Anasui.
Throughout her imprisonment, Jolyne displayed strategic ingenuity in Stand battles: deploying Stone Free's strings as detection webs or forming a Möbius strip to counter gravity attacks. She exhibited extreme determination, including setting herself ablaze to gain an advantage against Rikiel. Loyalty defined her actions, prioritizing allies like Anasui or Foo Fighters over tactical gains. Despite her hardened exterior, compassion remained, sparing misguided enemies and fiercely protecting Emporio.
Jolyne's mission culminated confronting Pucci at Cape Canaveral as his Stand evolved into Made in Heaven, accelerating time to create a new universe. After Pucci killed most of her allies, Jolyne sacrificed herself to ensure Emporio's escape, sustaining fatal injuries on March 22, 2012. Following Pucci's defeat and another universal reset, she reincarnated as Irene—free from the Joestar family's burdens. In this reality, she plans to marry Annakiss (Anasui's counterpart) and seeks her father's blessing, symbolizing a peaceful resolution.
Beyond the main story, Jolyne features in the non-canon one-shot "Jolyne, Fly High with GUCCI," depicted in high-fashion scenarios unrelated to her prison narrative.
