Description
Akira Fudo is a teenager who merges with the demon Amon during a Black Sabbath ritual. His pure heart overpowers Amon's consciousness, granting him the demon's abilities while retaining his human mind. This fusion creates Devilman, a being possessing superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, flight, energy projection, fire breath, limb extension, and teleportation. Physically, Devilman stands approximately 2.9 meters tall, featuring bat-like wings, a spaded tail, black fur covering his lower body, clawed extremities, and a distinctive red forehead crest. In human form, Akira develops a more athletic physique after the fusion, with black facial markings appearing under his eyes.
Initially meek and emotionally sensitive, Akira undergoes significant personality changes after merging with Amon, evolving into a more assertive and confident figure who occasionally exhibits perverse tendencies, though he retains his core empathy and protective instincts. His relationship with Miki Makimura serves as his primary emotional anchor to humanity, while his complex friendship with Ryo Asuka involves deep loyalty that eventually turns to betrayal upon discovering Ryo's true identity as Satan.
In "Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman", witnessing the brutal murder of Miki Makimura and her brother Tare by a paranoid mob traumatizes Akira. This loss causes him to lose faith in humanity, creating a psychological opening that allows Amon to fully manifest and seize control of their shared body. Dominating their form, Amon unleashes unrestrained demonic power, slaughtering both humans and demons indiscriminately. He specifically targets Saylos and his demon army, effortlessly overpowering them while exhibiting heightened savagery and cruelty.
During the ensuing internal struggle for dominance, Akira confronts Amon within their shared consciousness. This conflict culminates in a physical battle where Akira, as Devilman, overpowers Amon through relentless right-handed punches, securing victory and regaining control of their body. In the aftermath, Akira encounters Satan but rejects confrontation, walking past him without engagement. This conclusion diverges from other narratives where their conflict typically escalates to direct combat.
