TV-Series
Description
Luna Shirogane, known in the English version as Luna Platz, is a main heroine in the Mega Man Star Force series. She is introduced as the perky and bossy fifth-grade class president of Echo Ridge Elementary (Kodama Elementary in Japan). Luna takes her leadership role very seriously and is often seen bossing her classmates Zack Temple and Bud Bison around, but she is also a capable leader who can motivate others when they feel like giving up.
Her background includes being the only daughter of a wealthy family with incredibly high standards, which has shaped her into a perfectionist. This pressure partly drives her determination and persistence, such as repeatedly trying to convince Geo Stelar to return to school after he had isolated himself. While she initially treats Geo as just another flunky, her attitude softens as she gets to know him.
Luna develops strong feelings for the superhero Mega Man after he saves her, though she does not initially realize that Mega Man is Geo. This infatuation becomes a fangirl-like obsession in the anime, leading her to concoct schemes to meet her hero. Despite claiming she does not care for Geo, it becomes obvious that she has a crush on him, and she sees Sonia Strumm (Harp Note) as a rival for his affection.
Throughout the story, Luna frequently finds herself caught in the middle of incidents involving EM wave beings called FM-ians. In the first game, her parents decide to transfer her to another school, believing her friends are dragging down her potential. Distraught, she is approached by the FM-ian Ophiuca, who exploits her anger and transforms her into Queen Ophiuca. After the conflict is resolved, she accidentally discovers Geo's secret identity when she hugs Mega Man and he transforms back. In the second game, she is kidnapped multiple times by Hyde, and the lingering data of Ophiuca is used to force her to become Queen Ophiuca again. During this crisis, her trust in Geo helps him gain control of a powerful OOPArt through the Link Power ability. In the third game, her emotional support becomes even more prominent, and Geo acknowledges that without her encouragement he would have given up being Mega Man. At one point, she is destroyed by Dread Joker and separated into EM wave fragments, but Geo and his allies manage to restore her.
Luna does not have combat abilities; she finds battle terrifying and her Wizard companion, a rabbit-like being named Vogue, is not a battle Wizard. Her strength lies in her unwavering belief in her friends and her ability to push others forward when they falter. Her notable contributions include awakening Geo's true strength as Mega Man on two occasions through her trust and care.
Over the course of the series, Luna grows from a bossy class president into a loyal friend who openly supports Geo, both as a civilian and as a hero. Her relationship with Geo deepens, and she becomes one of the few people who knows his secret identity and helps him emotionally, even though she cannot fight alongside him directly.
