Description
Memetchi is a female Tamagotchi character who appears as one of the main characters in the Let's Go! Tamagotchi anime. She is identified as the oldest sibling of the Meme Family and the older sister of a character named Imotchi. Her physical design is distinctive, featuring a round, orange body that is often compared to the shape of a light bulb. Her most notable features are her large, sparkling eyes, each with three eyelashes on the top and bottom, and a prominent springy curl on top of her head that always swirls to the right. She has very thin, stick-like limbs, which are often colored dark brown in the anime. While her sprites and original art have a more yellowish tint, her anime appearance gives her a slightly darker, more reddish-orange hue. Despite not normally having visible cheeks in all depictions, she is sometimes shown with darker orange, red, pink, or yellow cheeks, especially when she is blushing. When angry, her curl becomes ragged and her cheeks become puffy.

In terms of personality, Memetchi is consistently portrayed as a cheerful, energetic, and friendly individual. She has a very stylish, feminine, and somewhat child-like demeanor, with a great love for fun activities such as dancing, daydreaming, and dressing up. Her fascination extends to anything with a spiral or swirly pattern, which is reflected in her personal belongings, such as her swirly-faced teddy bears. Despite her bright and upbeat nature, she is also notably sensitive, particularly about her appearance. She greatly cherishes her signature curl, and any criticism of her looks will cause her to become defensive or furious, often responding by staring and declaring that the person is being mean to her. A bad hair day can also lead her to become deeply depressed. While generally kind and a good friend who helps those who are lonely, she also possesses a stubborn and temperamental streak. Her dream is to become a singer, which is highlighted in the final episode of Let's Go! Tamagotchi, where her dream sequence shows her singing enthusiastically about her curly hair. In other media, she is also depicted as being good at cooking, fond of flowers, and aspiring to be a hairdresser.

Memetchi's role in the story is as a core member of the main trio of friends, alongside the intelligent inventor Mametchi and the food-loving Kuchipatchi. The three share a very close bond that began in early childhood and remains strong throughout their daily lives. Her key relationships are central to the narrative. She is known for a long-standing rivalry with Makiko, which primarily focuses on who has the superior curls, but unlike Makiko, Memetchi prioritizes friendship over vanity. One of her most significant friendships is with Flowertchi, whom she befriended after a misunderstanding involving a soccer ball and some damaged flowers. This backstory highlights Memetchi's persistence in making amends and her ability to form lasting, meaningful connections. She also makes new friends easily, as demonstrated when she becomes one of Lovelitchi's first Tama-friends.

Throughout the events of Let's Go! Tamagotchi and the subsequent anime series, Memetchi experiences development in her aspirations and living situation. By the conclusion of the first series, she, along with Mametchi and Kuchipatchi, makes the decision to move to Dream Town to study abroad. Her goal in Dream Town is to become the best hairdresser, leading her to reside at a famous salon called Salon De Dream. In this new setting, she also takes on a new creative outlet, performing as a saxophone player for a band called the Kira Kira Girls.

Beyond her personality traits, Memetchi possesses a unique and notable ability tied to her curly hair. She can use her curl as a sensory organ to detect things in her surroundings. By observing the behavior of her curl, she is able to sense the correct path to take or navigate her environment. This ability is, however, fallible and can fail completely if her curl is damaged, becomes wet in the rain, or is broken, which can cause her to lose her sense of direction entirely.
