Description
Daniel Dan Kuso is the central human protagonist of the Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia anime series. Hailing from the town of Wardington on Earth, he is approximately fifteen years old during the events of this season, three years older than his initial appearance in the first series.

Dan is characterized by a passionate and often impulsive nature, driven by a deep love for Bakugan brawling and an unwavering ambition to be the strongest. His approach to battle, particularly early in his journey, tends to prioritize raw power and instinct over careful planning, a trait that has led to significant friction with his partner in the past. While he matures through the challenges of New Vestroia, he retains a core of recklessness and overconfidence. He is easily frustrated, especially when forced into inaction or hiding, and his temper can flare during disputes with allies. Despite these flaws, Dan possesses a steadfast belief in second chances, often seeking to redeem former enemies rather than simply defeat them, and his courage in the face of overwhelming odds serves as an anchor for the entire Resistance.

Dan's primary motivation in New Vestroia is to liberate the Bakugan homeworld from the oppressive Vestal species. Responding to a summons from his partner, Drago, he willingly leaves Earth to join the Bakugan Brawlers Resistance. His mission is to free enslaved Bakugan, who have been stripped of their consciousness and forced to battle for Vestal entertainment, and to ultimately confront the ruling Vexos organization led by King Zenoheld.

In the story, Dan serves as the field leader and primary Pyrus attribute battler for the Resistance. Upon arriving in New Vestroia, he quickly adapts to the Vestals' new battle system, complete with Life Gauges and Bakugan Traps. He is forced to prove his skills to a skeptical Ace Grit, a trial that ends in a draw and secures his place on the team. Dan faces a major personal crisis early on when his rival, the masked Vexos brawler Spectra Phantom, captures Drago. This loss fuels his relentless determination, leading to a dramatic reunion with his partner and Drago's evolution into Cross Dragonoid after absorbing energy from the Legendary Soldier Apollonir. Throughout the season, Dan fights in key battles across Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Cities, eventually leading the final assault that destroys Zenoheld's Alternative Weapon System, a device capable of annihilating both Earth and Vestal.

His most significant relationship is with his guardian Bakugan, Drago, a Pyrus Dragonoid. Their bond is described as an unbreakable destiny link, marked by mutual growth and the occasional strain caused by Dan's recklessness. Within the Resistance, Dan forms a friendly rivalry with the Darkus brawler Ace Grit, whose more analytical style clashes with Dan's instincts. He also mentors the younger Baron Leltoy, helping the Vestal boy build his confidence. Dan's primary antagonist is Spectra Phantom, a powerful Vexos brawler whose capture and corruption of Drago become the season's central conflict. Though enemies, their rivalry evolves into a complex alliance built on grudging respect. On Earth, he maintains a tense, bickering relationship with Runo Misaki, a longtime friend whose romantic feelings for Dan are heavily implied but left unresolved in this season. He is also supported by his parents, Miyoko and Shinjiro Kuso, who remain on Earth during his adventures.

Dan undergoes significant development throughout New Vestroia. While he enters the season with the same brash impulsiveness that defined his younger self, the severe consequence of losing Drago forces a period of intense introspection. The experience of fighting to reclaim his partner and witnessing the devastation of the Vestal occupation tempers his recklessness into more calculated strategy and tactical discipline. He learns to lead a team in a foreign war, moving from a boy who simply loves to brawl to a seasoned protector capable of making difficult decisions and forging alliances with former enemies for the greater good.

Dan possesses notable abilities as a brawler. He has an advanced intuition for the flow of battle and exceptional leadership skills that inspire his allies. In New Vestroia, he masters the Vestal battle system, proficiently using a battle gauntlet with the activation command Gauntlet, Power Strike! He also wields a Pyrus Scorpion, a Trap Bakugan gifted by Resistance leader Mira Fermin, and later acquires powerful Battle Gear such as the Silver JetKor. The signature ability of his partner includes the power of the Perfect Core, a tremendous energy source that Drago can unleash in moments of crisis. Through their journey, Drago evolves from his base form into more powerful iterations, including Neo Dragonoid, Cross Dragonoid, and eventually Helix Dragonoid, each evolution unlocking new abilities and reflecting the strengthening of his bond with Dan.
