Description
Jaime Roca is a Spanish voice actor, primarily known for his work in the dubbing of animated series and films for the Spanish market. Based in Madrid, he began his career in dubbing somewhat by chance. Prior to entering the world of voice acting, Roca worked as a cook. His interest was piqued after accompanying his future wife, fellow voice actor and director Julia Martínez, to observe a dubbing class. Finding the profession appealing, he enrolled and soon began his training. His entry into the industry coincided with the home video boom, which increased the demand for dubbing work and allowed him to start giving beginner classes at his dubbing school while still learning himself.

Roca's early professional work included minor roles in the series Santa Bárbara. His first significant role came with the Spanish dubbing of the series Guillermo Tell (Crossbow), where he voiced the antagonist, Gessler. His introduction to Japanese animation, or anime, came through a project with the multimedia company Arait. After initially directing the dubbing of several lesser-known productions for them, he was entrusted with directing the Spanish version of the popular series La familia crece (Marmalade Boy), working with a team of voice actors.

Roca is most recognized for his long-running portrayal of the protagonist Monkey D. Luffy in the immensely popular anime series One Piece, a role he has voiced for both the television series and numerous feature films, including One Piece Film Red, One Piece Stampede, and One Piece: Episode of Chopper. His association with the series also extends to other characters, having provided voices for roles such as Chuchú, Jango, Yosaku, the Marine officer Brannew, and Chess in One Piece, as well as taking on substitute roles for other characters like Matsuge. His voice work also defines the character of Dan Kuso, the lead protagonist across the various Bakugan Battle Brawlers series, including New Vestroia, Gundalian Invaders, and Mechtanium Surge.

Beyond these signature roles, Roca has built a diverse career in animation dubbing. He voices Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, also known as Wild Tiger, in Tiger & Bunny. Z in Dinosaur King and its second season. His other notable anime credits include the角色 of Don Patch in Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Kero-chan in Sakura Card Captors, and the title character in Zorori the Extraordinary. He has also contributed to a wide array of other series, with roles in Dino Girl Gauko, Drifting Dragons, Dorohedoro, and as Takeshi Yamada in Nono-chan. In addition to his work as an actor, Roca has also worked as a dubbing director, notably on projects like La familia crece. He has expressed a particular fondness for working on animated projects, citing the enjoyment he derives from bringing characters to life.

Regarded as a legendary figure in Spanish dubbing for his extensive body of work and his portrayal of beloved characters like Luffy, Jaime Roca continues to be an active and influential presence in the industry, occasionally participating in conventions and events to connect with fans.
