Description
Ginta Suou is a central character in the romantic drama. He is a high school student and classmate of the protagonist, Miki Koishikawa, having known her since their middle school years. Ginta shares a homeroom class with Miki, Yuu Matsuura, and Meiko Akuzuki. He is an athletic teenager and a member of the school's tennis club, where he is considered the ace player of his grade. Physically, Ginta is a male teenager with brown hair that is cut short to his ears and brown eyes. His birthday is on April 10, making him an Aries, and his blood type is O.
In terms of personality, Ginta presents an interesting mix of traits. He tries to act cool and tough on the surface, but underneath this exterior, he is actually quite sensitive and sometimes lacks self-confidence. He has an active, enthusiastic, and single-minded nature, and can be impulsive and passionate. On a normal day, he can become silly and enthusiastic when excited, as well as emotional and flustered when provoked by his friends, particularly his rival Yuu. He has childish bouts with his cousin, Tsutomu Rokutanda. Ginta is described as having highs and lows in his character, sometimes seeming euphoric and other times appearing depressed. He values living in the present moment, dislikes lies and indifferent people, and is known to be somewhat possessive.
Ginta's primary role in the story is as a romantic rival and a key figure in the complicated love relationships that develop. He was Miki's first love and is her childhood friend. Although the two had a rift in their relationship in middle school, they reconcile and remain good friends at the start of the series. As the plot unfolds, Ginta still holds romantic feelings for Miki and becomes jealous of her growing relationship with her new step-brother, Yuu Matsuura. He arbitrarily regards Yuu as his rival. To complicate matters further, Ginta becomes involved with Arimi Suzuki, Yuu's ex-girlfriend. Arimi initially devises a plan for her and Ginta to pose as a new couple with the goal of making Miki and Yuu jealous. However, as they spend time together, Ginta and Arimi begin to develop genuine romantic feelings for each other. His character development centers on this transition from harboring an unrequited love for Miki to finding a sincere and reciprocated love with Arimi. Ginta's key relationships are with Miki, as her friend and former love interest; with Yuu, as his rival; with Arimi, who becomes his true love interest; and with his cousin Tsutomu, who is also a rival for Arimi's attention at one point.
In terms of abilities, Ginta is notably athletic and skilled in tennis, being the ace of his grade on the school team. This athleticism is a notable part of his character and what he is known for within his school.
