Description
Yomi Takeda is a high school student with long brown hair, brown eyes, and an athletic build highlighted by notably muscular thighs, a result of her baseball conditioning. Her name combines the kanji for "recitation, poem, song, composing" (詠) and "deep" (深), while Takeda means "military, martial" (武) and "field, rice paddy" (田).

As a child, Yomi developed a passion for baseball with her friend Tamaki Yamazaki. Playing catch, she discovered her unique "Magic Throw" or "Magic Ball," a pitch with unusual movement resembling a slurve—a hybrid of a curveball and slider. However, her junior high baseball experience turned discouraging when her catcher, prioritizing appearances, banned the Magic Throw and often failed to catch it. This restriction hampered their team in cross-school tournaments, leading Yomi to quit baseball by junior high's end.

Entering Shin Koshigaya High School, which lacked an active baseball club due to a past team scandal, Yomi initially avoided the sport. Her path shifted upon meeting Yoshino Kawaguchi, a baseball-loving classmate who recognized Yomi's experience by her hands. Yomi then reunited with Tamaki Yamazaki, who had honed her catching skills during their separation. During a game of catch, Tamaki successfully caught the Magic Throw, reigniting Yomi's enthusiasm and fulfilling their childhood promise to play together. This moment restored Yomi's confidence and dissolved her junior high regrets.

Inspired by this reunion and encouraged by Yoshino and her twin sister Ibuki, Yomi committed to reviving Shin Koshigaya's suspended baseball club. She collaborated with Tamaki, the Kawaguchi twins, and recruited others to form a complete team, setting their sights on national championships. The renewed partnership with Tamaki offered a corrective to her past, as Tamaki's skilled catching allowed Yomi to freely utilize her signature pitch, a cornerstone of their strategy. Through rebuilding the club and competing, Yomi transformed from a disillusioned player into a driven athlete focused on collective achievement.
