TV-Series
Description
Rom Stol, elder son of Kirai Stol and brother to Leina and Guardi Stol, hails from a family that fled their homeworld to Cronos while safeguarding the Hyribead energy source. Their escape vessel suffered a Gyandlar assault, resulting in Guardi being lost in space and presumed deceased. Growing up on Cronos, Rom retained no memory of his older brother.
Trained by his father in Tenku Chushin Ken (Sky Space Heart Fist) alongside Blue Jet and Rod Drill, Rom inherited the Wolf Sword Kenro after Gyandlar invaders killed Kirai. This blade unlocks two mighty robotic forms: Kenryu (Blade Dragon), summoned at peak light energy to magnify Rom’s power, and Baikanfu (ViKung-fu), which draws strength directly from Cronos upon the command "Heaven, Earth, Fire and Water, grant me the power!".
Standing 186 cm tall with a muscular build, messy dark-blue hair, and brown eyes, Rom traverses Cronos in the sentient vehicle Battleflex. Driven by a fierce commitment to justice, he intervenes against threats from street criminals to interplanetary foes. His entrances evoke Sergio Leone Westerns, and he often rebuffs adversaries with the taunt, "You don’t deserve to know my name!"—despite their familiarity with him.
His quest to collect Wolf Emblems aims to unveil the Hyribead’s secrets and avenge Kirai. Initially solitary, Rom accepts companionship from Leina, Blue Jet, Rod Drill, and Triple Jim after recognizing their worth during the Sado Fortress mission. Key confrontations include battling the resurrected Mizuchi, facing brainwashed children of Gyandlar captain Jingi, and rejecting a marriage proposal from Sophia of the Leo Clan after defeating her. Sophia later sacrifices herself to save him.
As conflict intensifies, Rom commands Emerald City’s military defenses against the Gyandlar. He acquires the Blazer Cannon from Kendo Robo and secures Hyribead components like the Dragon Helmet. During these clashes, flashbacks surface of his arrival on Cronos, gradually revealing memories of Guardi.
The pivotal revelation occurs when Gyandlar lieutenant Garudi is exposed as Rom’s brainwashed brother, Guardi. Aboard the Gyandlar mothership, Rom duels Garudi until Diondra reveals his true identity. Freed from control, Guardi aids Rom in defeating Gadess by merging the Wolf Sword with the Star Sword. Guardi perishes with Gadess, and Rom harnesses the unified Hyribead to restore Cronos.
In later OVAs, a dying Rom discloses to Leina the circumstances of her adoption by Kirai on Ursus, confirming Guardi’s presence during her rescue.
