Description
Triple Jim is a triple-changing robot from Iron City on the mechanical planet Cronos. He seamlessly transforms between robot, futuristic car ("Machine Red"), and helicopter ("Commander Helicopter") modes without part removal, featuring folding rotors and diecast metal construction.
As a member of Cronos' Battle Tribe in his animated continuity, he stands 2.98 meters tall and weighs 3.85 tons. His primary function is serving as caretaker and personal transport for Leina Stol. Initially lacking combat proficiency, he frequently encounters dangerous situations alongside her, including kidnappings. He demonstrates growing courage by assisting Rom Stol's group during ammo runs and protecting allies like Canary in Emerald City. His relationship with Leina evolves as she develops combat skills, leading him to occasional insecurity about his usefulness, though he remains dedicated to support and transport roles.
Following Cronos' dimensional gateway event, his continuity splits. In "Machine Robo: Battle Hackers," he appears as a member of the White Thunder team on Electronic Planet B-1 with no memory of his past. Simultaneously, in the OVA "Leina Stol in Wolf Sword Legend," he appears humanized but retains armor resembling his robot form. Captured by the wizard Velt Zaruk, he is freed by Rom and Leina, later aiding battles against Zaruk and Baltun on Star.
Toyline materials designate him under the Jet Tribe, conflicting with his animated Battle Tribe affiliation. His physical design includes spring-loaded missile launchers that combine into a double-barreled weapon, though animation models present a simplified appearance compared to the toy.
