Description
Eduard Markgraf von Sekt nahe Braunschweig, known as Ed, is a marquis and Strahl candidate at Kuchen’s prestigious Rosenstolz Academy. Born illegitimate to Viscount Braunschweig, he was raised by his father after his mother’s death. Resentment from his father’s wife, Henriette Braunschweig—bitter over her lack of a male heir—led her to ostracize Eduard and his younger half-sister Erika. After Erika’s forced departure, Eduard carried lifelong guilt for breaking his childhood promise to shield her.

Defying noble conventions, Eduard sports a tanned complexion, an earring, and relaxed attire with an exposed neck. His outwardly jovial nature masks a steadfast loyalty to his friends, particularly childhood companion Orpherus. He lightens tense situations with humorous attempts at meditation or kendo, yet intervenes decisively in crises, aiding Orpherus against political plots or defending Ludwig from treason accusations.

A skilled swordsman, Eduard favors direct action over courtly intrigue, complementing his athletic prowess in horsemanship and piano. Though he avoids discussing his fractured family, he gradually confronts his past—uncovering schemes orchestrated by his stepmother and revelations about Erika’s fate.

Later arcs reveal his maturation: he prioritizes protecting Kuchen’s king over personal bonds, even as threats to Orpherus arise. Encounters with figures from his past, including conspirators seeking to destabilize the nation, underscore his resilience and unyielding pursuit of justice.
