Description
Mai Mishou serves as a central character in *Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star* and its sequel *Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~*. Her full name, Mishou Mai, blends "mi" (beauty), "shō" (soar/fly), and "mai" (dance), meaning "beautiful flying dance," mirroring her aerial powers and graceful demeanor.

Initially a 13-year-old transfer student at Yuunagi Middle School, Mai reunites with childhood friend Saki Hyuuga after five years apart since meeting at the Sky Tree. She lives in an observatory with her astronomer father, archaeologist mother, and brother Kazuya, who aspires to be an astronaut. Academically strong and artistically gifted, Mai excels in studies and sketchbook drawing, drawing inspiration from everyday details. She joins the Art Club, designing monuments for events like the school festival. Her personality is calm, observant, and serene, though she occasionally hyperfocuses on art, requiring her fairy partner's intervention.

As a Pretty Cure, Mai transforms using Mix Commune or Splash Commune devices granted by spirits Flappy and Choppy. Her primary alter ego is Cure Egret, declared "The sparkling silver wing," reflecting avian and sky connections. This form enhances agility and flight, featuring a beige-and-white feather-motif outfit and ponytail. Later, she gains Cure Windy, announced as "The scented wind on the earth," wielding wind-based attacks in light-blue-and-pink attire with translucent sleeves. Both forms enable collaborative techniques like Twin Stream Splash and Spiral Heart Splash, prioritizing purification. Midway through *Splash Star*, Mai masters switching between Cure Egret and Cure Windy to leverage their elemental strengths.

Her journey involves defending the Land of Fountains against Dark Fall, which seeks to drain the world's life-force fountains. Key events include befriending-then-rescuing former Dark Fall operatives Michiru and Kaoru, and battling Goyan. During the climax, Cure Windy lends power to Kaoru before Mai reverts to Cure Egret for the Spiral Heart Splash Star finisher alongside Saki, Michiru, and Kaoru. Her fairy partner Choppy provides constant emotional support.

In *Kibou no Chikara*, adult Mai works as a graphic designer at a major advertising agency. She navigates personal challenges, including a breakup and career doubts. Reuniting with Saki and other Cures, she confronts new threats like Shadows, eventually rediscovering her transformation ability. Her adult design features shorter hair in a neat ponytail, wing-shaped earrings, and professional attire like cardigans and skirts. She advises Saki on emotional honesty and battles entities like Bell, showcasing retained combat skills and leadership.

Mai's relationships anchor her growth: her bond with Saki evolves from childhood acquaintances to inseparable partners, resolving conflicts through mutual understanding. She maintains ties with redeemed allies Michiru and Kaoru. Her development across series highlights increased confidence, transitioning from a reserved student to a self-assured adult balancing career, friendships, and heroic duties.
