TV-Series
Description
Mai Mishou is one of the two main protagonists of her series, a second-year student at Yuunagi Middle School who transfers to the area as the story begins. She lives in an observatory with her family, which includes her father, an astronomer, her mother, an archaeologist, and her older brother, who aspires to become an astronaut. This environment has nurtured in her a strong curiosity for both art and the sciences. Her calm and observant nature is one of her most defining traits; she is a top student who is often lost in thought, noticing subtle details in her surroundings that others might overlook. Mai is passionate and expressive through her art, and she almost always carries a sketchbook to draw whatever inspires her, finding beauty in everyday positive experiences. While she is reserved and studious compared to her more energetic partner, she possesses a gentle and high-spirited personality.

Mai first met her future partner, Saki Hyuuga, at the age of nine during a summer festival under a large tree known as the Sky Tree. Five years later, upon moving back to town, she is reunited with Saki at the same spot. At that moment, the fairies Flappy and Choppy fall from the sky. When the forces of Dark Fall attack and endanger the fairies, Mai's deep desire to protect others allows her to transform. Using the Mix Commune device, she becomes Cure Egret, the radiant silver wing, who is blessed with the power of the sky and birds. Her fighting style as Cure Egret emphasizes aerial agility and speed, and she can create energy shields, fly using spiritual powers, and is protected by a passive force field.

Her motivations are rooted in compassion and a strong sense of duty to protect the fairies and the Land of Greenery. She cherishes her newfound partnership with Saki, and their teamwork becomes the core of her strength. Their bond, formed before the series begins, allows for a natural and deeply supportive friendship, where Mai's quiet observation complements Saki's athletic and more impulsive nature. Midway through the story, after rescuing and healing the injured fairies, Mai gains the ability to access a second, more powerful form called Cure Windy, the scented wind on the earth. This form, which uses wind-based powers and ground-focused combat, is granted by the spirits Moop and Foop. She can freely switch between her Cure Egret and Cure Windy forms for the remainder of the series, using the Spiral Rings to perform the more powerful Spiral Heart Splash or Spiral Star Splash attacks alongside her partner.

A significant part of her development involves her relationship with the Kiryuu sisters, Michiru and Kaoru, who are initially enemies from Dark Fall. Mai's observant nature leads her to suspect their true identities, but she still befriends them and, along with Saki, tries to save them when they are hunted as traitors by their own organization. In the final battle, she demonstrates her growth and resolve by temporarily giving her Cure Windy power to an ally before reverting to her original Cure Egret form to help launch the ultimate attack, the Spiral Heart Splash Star, to defeat the final antagonist.
