Description
Mai Mishou serves as the civilian identity for both Cure Egret and Cure Windy within Futari wa Pretty Cure Splash Star. Transferring into Yuunagi Middle School as a second-year student, she reunites with childhood acquaintance Saki Hyuuga after a five-year separation. Their initial encounter occurs at the Sky Tree during a festival, establishing the foundation for their future partnership. When the fairy Flappy falls alongside Choppy during an attack by Karehan, Mai's protective desire triggers her transformation into Cure Egret alongside Saki becoming Cure Bloom.

Cure Egret channels bird and sky-based powers, introduced as "The Glittering Silvery Wing." Her combat emphasizes aerial agility and speed, utilizing Choppy's Mix Commune. Following upgrades by Moop and Foop to Crystal Communes, Mai gains access to Cure Windy, "The Scented Wind on the Earth," wielding wind-based abilities grounded in earth energy. This dual-form capability permits tactical switching, though Cure Egret remains essential for accessing Choppy's core bird power. Notable attacks include the collaborative Twin Stream Splash with Cure Bloom, later upgraded to Spiral Heart Splash using Spiral Rings, and the ultimate Spiral Heart Splash Star combining all four elemental spirits.

Mai exhibits a calm and observant personality, excelling in academics and artistic pursuits. Her passion for drawing manifests through sketchbooks capturing meaningful moments, while scientific curiosity stems from her parents' professions—her father an astronomer, her mother an archaeologist. This attentiveness allows her to detect subtle details, such as Michiru and Kaoru's familial ties to the antagonist group Dark Fall. She befriends the duo, attempting to rescue them from Dark Fall's retaliation after their defection. During the final battle against Goyan, Cure Windy temporarily transfers power to Kaoru before Mai reverts to Cure Egret for the decisive Spiral Heart Splash Star.

In adulthood, depicted in Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~, Mai works as a graphic designer. She navigates personal challenges including a romantic breakup and career doubts while reuniting with Saki. When Shadows attack, she resumes transformation alongside Saki and allies from Yes! Pretty Cure 5, later encouraging Saki to embrace their Pretty Cure legacy despite risks associated with Time Flowers. Michiru and Kaoru reappear as protectors named Dark Night Light.

Her visual design evolves significantly. As a civilian teenager, she sports dark purple hair partially tied in a bun, favoring cream tops and light blue jeans. Cure Egret's attire features a cream mini-dress with feather-like frills, teal heart accessories, and white boots; Cure Windy shifts to a light cyan palette with lavender accents and translucent sleeves. Adult Mai adopts shorter hair with ombre highlights, wing-shaped earrings, and professional wear like peach cardigans with turquoise skirts or green t-shirts with grey jeans, often accessorized with a wing-shaped necklace.

Etymologically, "Mishou" combines "beauty" (美) and "soar" (翔), reflecting her avian and wind-based alter egos, while "Mai" (舞) signifies "dance," symbolizing graceful motion. Her key relationships center on Saki as an inseparable partner, her fairy companion Choppy, and the reformed antagonists Michiru and Kaoru.
